We are looking for a new Senior Director to spearhead our cutting-edge West Point, Quantitative Biosciences (QB) Cell Pharmacology team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned expert in pharmacology and drug discovery, responsible for guiding and inspiring a talented local team of 20+ pharmacologists and group leads. Beyond leadership, this role involves forging alliances with local therapeutic areas, championing new technologies, and interfacing with our global pharmacology network. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in evolving our pharmacology organization into an industry trailblazer.  In this role you will:

Lead and manage a team of 20+ in vitro cellular pharmacologists and cell pharmacology group leads, providing guidance, mentorship, accountability, and professional development opportunities.

Collaborate with Therapeutic Area, Biologics, Chemistry and other functional leadership to understand the pharmacology needs of pipeline programs and develop & execute strategies to address them; primarily programs in Neuroscience, Immunology and Infectious Disease/Vaccines.

Serve as a scientific leader and role model for West Point QB, partnering with the Global QB organization, and representing QB in global networks and at interfaces with other disciplines.

Participate in the operations, strategy advancement and talent development for the West Point/London QB organization as a member of its leadership team.

Represent the QB/Pharmacology function at therapeutic area governance forums, program teams, due diligence exercises and/or cross-functional teams as needed.

Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the QB team, driving the development and adoption of new methodologies and technologies.

Ensure compliance with company established practices and procedures, including laboratory notebooks, computer files, quality and regulatory guidelines, and safety standards.

Represent the company and the QB team at scientific conferences and industry events.

What you will need:

A PhD with at least 10 years' experience in Pharmacology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, or a BS or MS with 14 year's of equivalent experience.

Significant industry experience in leading in vitro research in a drug discovery and development setting.  Familiarity with Neuroscience, Immunology and/or Infectious Diseases/Vaccines strongly preferred.

An ability to lead a team of 20+ scientists, including group leads and a diverse set of pharmacology-related capabilities.

Proven track record of understanding complex biological mechanisms using pharmacological techniques.

Required knowledge of laboratory operations, automation, biochemical and cell-based assays, translational models, high throughput screening, compound management, phenotypic screening, imaging, mechanism of action assessments.

Strong leadership, management and mentoring skills, with an ability to lead through others, drive performance, make tough decisions, and foster a culture of collaboration and engagement.

Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
