Senior Director of Financial Aid
Palmer College of Chiropractic is looking for a Senior Director of Financial Aid Planning! This position will d irect and oversee the institutional financial aid and scholarship delivery system within applicable federal and state statutes and regulations; interpret federal regulations, guidelines and professional literature on financial aid; inform financial aid staff of changes, modifications and interpretations resulting from new or current legislation; establish and implement the philosophy, goals, budget and operating policies and procedures for the financial aid office; hire, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline department employees; develop, manage and oversee department budget; monitor expenditures and funding availability. The Senior Director of Financial Planning is responsible for implementing strategies that support new student enrollment, retention, and net revenue goals. The Senior Director will prepare and submit appropriate applications and reports for the continued funding of federal and state financial aid programs; ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations; prepare financial aid and scholarship disbursement requests; certify loan applications; process Title IV refunds; reconcile financial aid account balances with Business Office and federal and state records. This role will advise students regarding eligibility and responsibility, program requirements, alternative resources and budgeting; provide information individually and in group presentations for both financial aid and scholarship programs; retrieve, process and transmit data to and from external sources; establish and maintain scholarship donor relations; compose letters to legislative members expressing concerns and advocating financial aid issues; and perform related duties as assigned. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Provide direction and leadership in the administration of financial aid programs. + Ensure confidentiality of student financial aid records. + Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; recruit, employ, train, supervise, and evaluate unit staff. + Develop, implement, and interpret financial aid policies, systems and procedures. + Consult with internal and external sources regarding financial aid initiatives, administration, and compliance. + Share accountability for enrollment and retention + Assist in the annual financial audit. + Develop and recommend policies for financial aid which support goals and policies of the institution and which ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. + Maintain current professional and technical knowledge. + Prepare, submit, and distribute federal financial aid reports. + Assist in the achievement of strategic and financial objectives. + Manage all aspects of department personnel. + Contribute to organizational leadership and effectiveness. + Chair and/or serve on appointed committees, task forces, and other teams. + Perform all responsibilities in a manner that fully complies with Palmer’s Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policy. + Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES + Knowledge of federal compliance requirements. + Ability to perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions. + Ability to utilize general office equipment and other necessary equipment. + Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment. + Ability to calculate and analyze numerical data. + Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. + Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and direct student financial assistance programs and initiatives. + Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. + Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. + Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community. + Ability to work various hours as job requires. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred; five years related experience, supervisory experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT + Perform sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature controlled office setting. + Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
