Position Overview:
The Senior Director of Global Health & Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety strategies and programs across the organization. This role ensures compliance with local, regional, and global health and safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and leads initiatives to mitigate risks and improve safety performance across all company operations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive global health and safety strategy. Provide leadership and direction to the global health and safety team. Proactively collaborate with systemwide H&S and leadership teams, integrating health & safety business operations and strategic planning locally. Understand country specific H&S regulatory requirements and best practices while driving global strategy. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001). Identify and assess health and safety risks, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Oversee the implementation of health and safety audits and inspections. Program Development and Implementation: Design and implement wellbeing & global health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. Develop and deliver training programs to promote awareness and compliance. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and make necessary adjustments. Incident Management and Reporting: Oversee the investigation of health and safety incidents, accidents, and near misses. Ensure accurate reporting and record-keeping of health and safety data. Analyze incident trends and develop action plans and remediation strategies to prevent recurrence. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote and drive health and safety initiatives. Serve as the primary point of contact for health and safety matters with regulatory agencies and industry organizations. Represent the company in health and safety forums, conferences, and networks. Budget Management: Develop and manage the health and safety budget. Ensure efficient allocation of resources to support health and safety initiatives. Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes. Lead initiatives to implement new technologies and innovations in health and safety.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in health and safety, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in a global organization (incl Pharma/Chemical Industry). Experience of managing multi-cultural teams. Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certifications preferred. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of global health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Fluent understanding of internal Health Management Service teams, confidential injury management documentation, privacy laws, Workers Compensation and Leave management. Skills: Strong leadership and management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage teams remotely. Ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable strategies. Proficiency in health and safety management systems and software.

Working Conditions:
Travel: Willingness to travel internationally as required. Environment: Office-based with occasional visits to operational sites and facilities.
