The Team You’ll Work With: Situated within the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice (MOERJ) as a companion office to the NYC Young Men’s Initiative (YMI), NYC Her Future will foster positive change and create a brighter future for all young people, with a special focus on young women, girls, and gender expansive people in communities of color across New York City. The announcement is part of “Women Forward NYC,” the city’s $43 million action plan aimed at making New York a national leader on gender equity. NYC Her Future is an office established to connect young women, girls, and gender expansive youth of color to development opportunities and programs that center empowerment, cultural identity, well-being, and academic and career success. NYC Her Future will build off the success of YMI and work in tandem with YMI to ensure that all NYC youth are advancing and needs are being met equitably. New York City Residency Is Required Within 90 Days of Appointment The Problems You’ll Solve Through the creation of this new office, the City has declared its commitment to prioritize young women, girls, and gender expansive youth. This newly created office will develop new programs and policies that are designed to address disparities impacting young women, girls, and gender expansive youth of color and their peers across numerous outcomes related to education, health, employment, and the justice system. These programs and policies break down barriers to success and help young people achieve their professional, educational, and personal goals. The Senior Director of Strategy and Operations will report directly to the Executive Director. Duties include, but are not limited to: - Design the strategic planning process and execute the plan for the office - Co-develop sustainable short and long-term strategies to meet goals and advance the office’s mission with senior leadership within city government - Deliver regular updates to the Executive Director and key stakeholders, identifying gaps or obstacles, and recommend solutions as needed - Develop standardized practices to support hiring and onboarding, and program performance and management - Create an advisory board comprised of key stakeholders and partners - Design systems to collect and utilize data to drive strategic decision-making - Develop presentations, speeches, and briefing materials - Oversee the development and dissemination of the office's external communications strategies - Create the planning, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and procedures - Support the budget modification process and the development of budget modification memorandums About You - Master’s degree (MPA or related relevant degree preferred) + 1 year relevant work experience or Bachelor’s degree + 5 years’ work experience in City Government or Non-Profit sectors - Must have experience leading a strategic planning process - A deep understanding of the issues that impact young women - Ability to problem solve and make decisions in a timely manner - Strong management and project management skills - Knowledge of city agencies and city government - Excellent written, communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills - Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail - Ability work productively under pressure, both as an individual and part of a team - Have a positive attitude and be self-motivated - Have a sense of humor Salary The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other factors. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities? 3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above? 4.
