Job Overview:

The Senior Director of Supply Chain, focusing on transportation and logistics, will oversee and optimize the end-to-end supply chain processes, ensuring seamless integration of transportation, logistics, and distribution strategies. This leader will drive operational excellence, improve cost efficiency, and ensure the reliable delivery of products. Key responsibilities include managing carrier relationships, optimizing the logistics network, and developing strategic plans that align with the company's growth goals.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy with a strong focus on transportation, logistics, and distribution. Lead and manage cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between procurement, warehouse management, transportation, and logistics. Collaborate with executive leadership to support business growth, scalability, and customer satisfaction. Optimize domestic and international transportation networks to improve lead times, reduce costs, and ensure on-time delivery. Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), freight forwarders, and carriers. Evaluate and negotiate transportation contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and service reliability. Oversee the implementation of technology solutions that enhance logistics and transportation efficiency, such as TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems). Manage all aspects of reverse logistics including returns management, recycling and product disposition. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce logistics costs while maintaining service levels. Analyze and report on transportation costs, key performance indicators (KPIs), and overall logistics performance. Implement lean practices and automation to improve supply chain efficiency and accuracy. Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, including domestic and international shipping requirements. Develop risk mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions, including contingency planning for natural disasters, political unrest, and supplier issues. Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards in transportation and logistics operations. Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing transportation and logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Develop talent pipelines and succession plans for key roles within the logistics and supply chain departments. Promote a collaborative work environment and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, with a strong emphasis on transportation and logistics. Proven track record of leadership in a large, complex organization with high-volume distribution networks. Experience managing both domestic and global logistics operations. In-depth knowledge of transportation networks, logistics best practices, and carrier management. Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, negotiate contracts, and drive cost reductions. Proficiency in supply chain technologies such as ERP, TMS, WMS, and advanced analytics tools. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
