Senior Director - Quality Programs
How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

 

Leads strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of publicly reported healthcare programs. Oversees the development and adaptation of healthcare reporting methodologies and metrics. Utilizes database measurements to achieve tangible outcomes, ensuring excellence in patient care. Responsible for conducting recruitment, hiring, orientation, coaching and disciplinary action in accordance with Carilion Clinic policies.   Is a good steward of fiscal plan. Participates in fiscal planning, monitoring, and implementation of cost-containment measures as indicated and appropriate. Collaborates with Carilion Clinic departments in planning for and providing those services as they relate to hospital and the service area.  Assures good communication, collaboration and coordination of those services with other services in the hospital service area. Champions and leads hospital-based Performance Improvement, Quality and Safety initiatives with board members, administrators, employees and medical staff members. Ensures that data collection and reporting support hospital and organization-wide quality monitoring efforts. Supports evidence base practice, Magnet and NDNQI processes Works collaboratively with organization-wide and hospital services to ensure hospital’s continuous compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and that hospital achieves and maintains accreditation/certification under TJC, CARF, ASCP and other applicable accrediting agency standards. Serves as a member of the hospital’s leadership team, attending board meetings and/or medical staff meetings, and serving as a role model for demonstration of Carilion’s values and behaviors. Facilitates the professional growth and development of organizational leaders and employees within areas of responsibility. Identifies and promotes opportunities for staff development and engagement. Ensures timely and professional communications. Acts as a resource for cutting edge process improvement trends, models of design, and national hot topics related to CAPS. Participates in national, regional and local Quality and Safety initiatives.  What We Require:


Education: Master’s degree required.

Experience: Minimum 5-7 years management/leadership experience in hospital, operational or other health services setting, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services. Strong background in healthcare quality improvement, data analysis, and program management and objective outcomes in the execution to achieve results.  Strong background in health analytics and data science strongly preferred.  

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: None required. Certification in Quality/Safety strongly recommended.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes for Carilion Clinic and for Director, Quality and Patient Safety position. Must display positive leadership skills, interpersonal & oral communication skills, and written communication skills. Must work well with all members of the Community hospital teams, including employees, managers, administrators and physicians. Must understand dynamics of and be able to work effectively within a “matrix” management environment. Must possess analytic business skills, integrity as a team player; be courteous; have ability to resolve complaints/problems; and display a customer-focused philosophy of service. Must demonstrate skills in operational and human resources management.
