Job Description
NYC Health + Hospitals’ Supply Chain Services is an enterprise-wide centralized department which solicits proposals, and negotiates/enters into contracts for goods, services, software, pharmaceuticals, consultants, staffing, and construction for NYC Health + Hospitals’ eleven acute hospitals, six long-term care facilities, numerous clinics, correctional health services, 45,000 staff, with an annual spend of approximately $1.5 billion. Supply Chain services also works closely with facility-based materials management, inventory management, distribution and logistics.
The Senior Director Strategic Sourcing is the spend category team leader who is responsible for the contracting, project management, vendor management, and spend reduction for non-clinical spend. The Senior Director Strategic Sourcing will also play a leading role in managing capital acquisitions, working with internal/external partners regarding capital procurements at the planning, budgeting, project, contract, and transactional levels.
This position requires an experienced sourcing background associated with indirect materials and services, as well as strong analytic and problem-solving skills. This position also requires strong reporting and presentation skills to communicate initiatives status at all levels of the hospital system.
The individual in this position must:
(1) possess knowledge associated with the professional field of sourcing and contracting; (2) have experience in Strategic Sourcing of non-clinical spend areas such as but not limited to non-production goods and services (MRO, Facilities, and Capital), Professional Services, Marketing, Legal, Human Resources, Consulting, Construction, Finance, Office Supply/Furniture and Document Management; (3) apply associated theories, methods, principles, and practices; (4) perform associated duties that are predominantly intellectual and varied in nature, requiring creative, analytical, evaluative, interpretive, and/or critical thinking; and (5) Exercise discretion and independent judgment, requiring only general supervision for day-to-day tasks. (6) Lead, develop, and mentor team members.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilites:
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration or an approved related program and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or appropriate functional discipline with an emphasis on planning, liaison and inter-organizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
Department Preferences
Completion of Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Masters of Health Administration. Minimum of five (5) years’ management experience in supply chain.Knowledgeable In:
