Our Transmission Distribution global practice is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to join our growing Distribution Modernization business in our Fort Worth office. This position will provide development and design services on 2.4 to 34.5kV overhead and underground utility distribution projects. This role requires the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize work. The position will be responsible for tackling an array of challenging items, including the drafting and design of engineering deliverables on multiple complex utility distribution projects. This position will be required to interface with utility clients and collaboration with multiple offices. Primary responsibilities of the Senior Distribution Engineer will include:
This role is responsible for preparing and developing distribution voltage construction packages for both overhead and underground construction. Provide quality reviews of work prepared by others and adhere to the QA/QC process. Assist in the training and development of the Distribution Modernization team members. Experience includes knowledge of overhead and underground construction methods, knowledge of distribution system equipment, and utilization of field data and GIS information to aid in design. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features. Requires general knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and familiarity with basic principles and practices in related specialties. May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving complex problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Apply strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Design distribution facilitates utilizing client standards, including overhead and underground distribution facilities, equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, new feeder design, etc. Routing, design, and execution of distribution line projects. Participate in developing project schedule, scope, budget, resource forecasting, and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change orders. Prepare calculations and equipment specifications. Assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction by mentoring less experienced engineers and designers. Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met. Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications. Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits. Other duties, as assigned.
