Senior Economist, Customer Behavior Analytics
Description Join Amazon's Customer Behavior Analytics team to revolutionize how millions of customers interact with our platform. This role sits at the intersection of Gen AI and behavioral science, consumer psychology, and digital engagement patterns, where you'll be the thought leader on customer journey analytics - how Amazon customers navigate from initial interaction to final decision-making. You'll leverage advanced analytical techniques and behavioral modeling to optimize how Amazon personalizes experiences, whether customers are browsing, comparing options, or engaging with our services. As a senior leader within the team, you'll help guide a talented group of behavioral analysts and data scientists while influencing strategic decisions and advancing the frontier of applied customer behavior science. A key focus area includes working closely with teams building Amazon's next-generation personalization systems, helping shape the future of individualized customer experiences. Key job responsibilities The role requires deep expertise in behavioral analytics, predictive modeling, and customer segmentation to tackle fundamental questions about customer decision-making and engagement patterns in digital retail. You'll develop innovative frameworks to measure customer satisfaction and quantify the effectiveness of personalization strategies. You will work closely with senior leadership to guide customer experience decisions across Amazon's portfolio of features. Key responsibilities include: building predictive models to forecast customer behavior, implementing advanced segmentation techniques to understand customer personas, designing and analyzing customer journey maps, measuring the impact of personalization features (including AI-powered recommendations), developing metrics to track customer engagement, and collaborating with product teams to embed behavioral insights into Amazon's customer experience systems. Basic Qualifications - PhD in economics or equivalent Preferred Qualifications - Experience in analytics and applied economics - Experience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve business-relevant problems - Experience in building statistical models using R, Python, STATA, or a related software - Experience in industry, consulting, government or academic research Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
