Senior EHS Manager

Join Ecolab as our Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager at our flagship manufacturing facility in Joliet, IL. The EH&S Manager is an important member of the plant leadership team, reporting to the Site Director, to build and maintain a strong SH&E culture with World-Class HS&E Systems throughout the organization. 

The HS&E Manager leads the site’s efforts in achieving world-class HS&E systems and cultures with ongoing continuous improvements. With an emphasis on next-level programs and EHS management systems, the EH&S Manager will help lead the site to best-in-class within and outside the company. The EH&S Manager should have a working knowledge of the technical aspects of various regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, DOT and a strong understanding of EH&S Management Systems such as ISO 14001, ISO 45005, ANSI Z10, and/or OSHA VPP.

What You Will Do:

Provides technical expertise to ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations.

Develop and implement world class safety management systems.

Develop / lead SH&E initiatives and improvements based on data trends from audit findings, observations, safety loss data, and best practices.

Ensure effectiveness of extensive incident investigations involving process and personal safety injuries through root-cause analysis.

Drive compliance of industrial hygiene and chemical exposure mitigation programs.

Drives implementation of 5S and SH&E TPM Pillar, observation program and safety committees.

Contributes to the improvement/design of processes, equipment, and SOPs.

Maintains records and permit requirements for air, water, and solid waste.

Coordinates ECAP and other audits and works with leadership to ensure any findings are addressed.

Mentor, coach and develop SHE Specialist which reports to the SH&E Manager.

Site Information:

The Joliet, IL facility is our largest North American plant: 3001 Channahon Road, Joliet, Illinois, 60436. The plant is a 600,000-square-foot site that operates 24/7 and manufactures approximately 900 formulas and 1,700 SKUs. Products include Liquid, Powder, Organic and Cast products used by businesses for cleaning and sanitation to promote clean water, abundant energy, and safe food.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in occupational safety, environmental, health, or a related field

8 years of direct/related experience within a manufacturing environment

Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and State Regulations, or equivalent, in safety and environmental compliance

Safety Management Systems Experience

Supervisory experience

Highly motivated

Task driven in fast past environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Degree preferred

TPM and SHE Pillar experience

Experience initiating changes and ability to influence at all levels of the organization

Strong interpersonal skills: demonstrated skills to influence decision-makers and motivate team members

Proven ability to lead, develop and implement programs and processes

Strong analytical skills

Excellent verbal/written communication skills

Advanced skills in MS office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
