About the Role:
Are you passionate about Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and ensuring compliance with national, customer, and company standards? Do you have extensive experience in the heavy industrial, manufacturing, or mining sectors? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As a Sr. EHS Specialist, you will provide leadership and direction for the implementation and refinement of EHS policies and procedures.  This role oversees all EHS activities to ensure compliance with national, customer, and company standards and all best management practices.  The specialist assists management in developing and coordinating EHS representatives, sets strategic goals, and ensures proper analysis and documentation of incidents. Additionally, the role involves collecting and communicating key performance metrics, guiding pollution prevention efforts, and leading investigations of significant incident.

Key Job Responsibilities EHS Strategy: Ensure plans are consistent with Komatsu North America and Global Mining Group EHS Strategies and corporate mandates. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect, record, analyze, and communicate key performance metrics regularly to advance the organization’s EHS initiatives. Pollution Prevention: Guide pollution prevention and waste minimization efforts to reduce facility waste management costs. Leadership: Demonstrate required behaviors, attitudes, and mindset to develop the KMT and KNA Group EHS culture. Implementation: Oversee the implementation of KMT and KNA Group EHS initiatives and act as a change agent for integration into core business processes. Support and Guidance: Provide resources, technical guidance, education, coaching, counseling, and mentoring to assist managers, supervisors, and employees in understanding and applying KMT and KNA Group EHS requirements. Incident Management: Interface with operations personnel to ensure proper analysis, identification, documentation, communication, and implementation of corrective actions for all incidents of loss. Lead investigations of significant incidents when necessary. Injury Management: Monitor all injury and illness incidents and assist with injury management efforts to reduce costs and other negative outcomes. Audits and Compliance: Lead program and site internal audits, provide instruction and assistance on issues identification, corrective actions, and documentation of issue closure. Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with solid and hazardous waste, air emissions, and water quality regulatory requirements, and drive pollution prevention initiatives. Qualifications/Requirements B.S. degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management or related field. 5 to 7 years of practical EHS experience in the heavy industrial, manufacturing, or mining sectors. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP) designation is desirable but not required. Comprehensive understanding of Federal/National, State/Provincial, OH&S regulations and standards. Additional training expertise in various safety and environmental areas is desired. May be required to travel up to 25% of the time throughout the region. Good communication skills to interact effectively with management, employees, and government entities. Ability to maintain confidentiality with access to sensitive information. Knowledge of worker compensation injury claims management and best practices. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to plan and prioritize EHS initiatives and lead multiple projects. Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with electronic EHS tracking and reporting systems is an asset. Additional Information
