Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country’s nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundy’s personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material. Our Government Services Group, one of our five (5) market focused business units, has opportunities for engineering professionals in our design group. This group specializes in DOE facility design, both new and retrofit designs, as well as special purpose gloveboxes and the associated controls and auxiliary systems, precision furnaces, hot cells, custom pressure vessels and other one-of-a-kind equipment.
As a member of a multi-disciplined project team, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your designer background and/or technical experience in Electrical and/or Controls Design.
Work on project teams with other Electrical designers and engineers involved in the design of new power distribution and lightingYou will be involved in the preparation of design media for the procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control system platformsDevelop your career via peer learning by way of Sargent & Lundy's systems of process and associated "Communities of Practice" QualificationsEssential skills and experience:
Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
An Associate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of experienceProficience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation softwareExperience in the design of electrical/controls engineering systems in a project team environment with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new facilities, or modifications or replacements for existing facilitiesExperience in preparation and review of design drawingsEffective written and verbal communication skillsDetail-oriented approach to work
Valued but not required skills and experience:
BIM modeling using Autodesk products (Revit) or equivalentNavisworksExperience with ProjectWise or SmartPlant Foundation or similar document management type applications.Understanding of NFPA/NEC codesExperience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, one-line diagrams, loop diagrams, cable and conduit diagramsResponsibilities
