Come join the fast-growing Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group at HDR. BES provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for a wide variety of building projects that include public, municipal, private, and Federal project types both locally as well as across the region and globally. This multidisciplinary team consists of: civil engineers who focus on site layout and grading; structural engineers with emphasis on building support systems (concrete, steel, mass timber, etc.); mechanical engineers concentrating on both wet (piping/plumbing design) and dry (HVAC) building systems and electrical engineers and instrumentation and controls engineers directing design on high, medium and low voltage systems (power distribution, lighting, communication and systems). You have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of building types ranging from technology, aerospace, commercial, industrial and institutional facilities to data centers and highly specialized facilities in the water, wastewater and power delivery sectors.
Act in a leadership role as a Sr. Electrical Engineering in the Building Engineering Services group for design and support of facilities projects including Water and Wastewater Treatment, Technology and Data (Data Centers), Solid Waste, Transportation, and Industrial.
Design and supervise projects/assignments designated by your Section Manager. Carry out detailed design and calculations in accordance with industry guides. Assist and prepare specifications, reports, and drawings to the design program. Oversee project site works commissioning and testing.Become an integral part of the design team, taking responsibility and ownership for electrical elements of design production. Supporting the team’s common goal.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, manage and supervise projects, establish client brief, technical requirements, scope of works and provide information for cost plans as agreed with project lead.Understand and deliver to agreed deadlines i.e. reports, specifications and drawings to meet projects requirementsAgree level of service, and project design duties with your Section Lead and Project Manager, for each project, understand relationships between scope, risk, and fee.Lead Electrical team with projects including design, supervision, and monitoring of engineering/CAD/ REVIT resources for each project within your control.Carry out concept and detailed designs through to all stages, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved.Communicate with the design team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Provide positive contribution to design/project meetings. Maintain regular ‘in-house’ design reviews and checks.Monitor and control project progress and design variations.Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.Assist Section Manager with identifying and implementing personnel training requirements.Implement QA/QC systems and procedures on all projects.Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs conform to applicable regulations.Other duties as assigned#LI-JM8
Preferred Qualifications:
Competency in Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, Outlook Power Point.Excellent presentation and communication skills.Willingness to travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record under the HDR Motor Vehicle Policy.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasisA minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems);Professional Engineer (PE) licenseExtensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systemsStrong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design softwareAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
