Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country’s nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundy’s personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material. WORK LOCATION: This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent on site and working remote from home.
This is a senior design engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Electrical Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity for career advancement.
Lead Electrical design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design teamResponsible for production of engineering calculations/analyses and engineering reportsPrepare design inputs for drawing production including electrical site plans, power and lighting plans, one-line diagrams, assembly drawings, conduit and wire run schedules, wiring diagrams, elementary diagramsApply electrical engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and componentsProduce procurement specifications and construction specifications Attend project meetings and perform field walkdownsProvide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
Essential skills and experience:
BSEE or MSEE degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited programFive or more years of progressive responsible experience in electrical engineering in a nuclear environmentExperience with producing engineering designs for low to medium voltage electrical distribution systems and instrumentation wiring; Experience with more than one type of system a plusExperience with NEC, UL508, electrical codes, and IES Lighting HandbookProficiency or ability to learn load flow and/or arc flash analysis software such as ETAP and/or SKM Power ToolsProficiency or ability to learn lighting analysis software such as Visual and AGI32Must be able to obtain US Government security clearanceValued but required skills and experience:
