Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centers - Remote

This challenging and unique role will involve acting as a senior electrical engineer, designing critical power systems for new data centers and expansions to existing data centers. The ideal candidate will have past experience designing electrical systems specifically for large data centers. They will have experience and in-depth knowledge of Electrical Power Systems / Power Distribution System design and installation. Previous experience with electrical equipment design to include Generators, UPS systems, PDUs and electrical switchgear is a must. They will be proficient using AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP to develop electrical construction models and documents. You will help lead the design and effectively work with / communicate with all the trades and stakeholders involved in the project.

Responsibilities:

Manage projects, create designs and plans, provided and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical engineering design role for all sizes of data center facility design projects- enterprise data centers, Colocation Providers and for Hyperscale Companies.Create Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings with the client for Field Engineer focusWork with Management to respond to RFPs; Review shop drawings and submittals; Review and respond to RFIsEstablish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policies Put these in clear concise work statement for the fieldRepresent the company in project meetings as neededCollaborate with all design staff and oversee full cycle electrical design activitiesInteract closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications and lead the construction administration processExecute and lead design teams and design projects of complex scopePerform intermediate to advanced electrical design tasks including development of electrical distribution systems and topologies, infrastructure and equipment layouts and selection / sizing of equipmentUtilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawingsReview and / or prepare book or sheet specifications for electrical systemsDevelop and / or review sequences of operationsAssist in proposal development including project scope, schedule and budgetEffective management of project design team including resource forecasting and coordinationIdentify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlinesSupport contact for design clients and builds effective, long-term client relationshipsMay direct / coordinate interns / other engineering and technical staffSurvey existing building conditions / Conduct Field Observations and prepares technical reports of findings and commissioning supportCollect data and other information for construction documentsPrepare project design and construction documentsReview and complete punch lists and project closeout documentsPrepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholdersUpdate and maintain shop drawing and RFI log

Qualifications:

8-15 years experienceExperience working for MEP firms, an A/E firmBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering degreeLicensed PE / EIT a PlusExperience with the design process of building systems for data center and mission critical projectsKnowledge of electrical systems found in buildings including single/three phase power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and life safety systemsKnowledge of codes and specifications for the design of electrical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation CodesTechnical / design software including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies, equipment sizing, underground feeder calculations and lighting calculationsPrevious experience using: Revit MEP projects, AutoCAD MEP, BIM a plusExperience working on data center /data center / mission critical projectsExtensive Experience with Electrical Power Systems and Equipment - UPS / Uninterruptible Power Supply, Generators, Batteries, switchgear , Power Distribution Units, Backup Power , Electrical Power, Power Systems , Medium Voltage , High Voltage , etc.Experience working on complex data center/mission critical facilities design projects a mustProficient in design and calculation software
MS Office: Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Teams
SKM Power tools, EDSA or ETAP experience is desirableExceptional organizational skills for file managementSkilled with various electrical topologies and distribution systemsSkilled in performing code analysis including selection of equipment, wiring, etc. to meet code requirementsAbility to successfully work independentlySelf Starter, self motivated, and should prioritize wellEffective Communicator – emails, phone and face to faceComplete assignments accurately and with attention to detailAnalyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondenceCommunicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contactAbility to work under pressure and meet close deadlinesAbility to effectively plan and delegate the work of othersOrganizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyPrevious Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.)
