POSITION: Senior Electrical Engineer
POSITION: Provide senior level electrical engineering design; able to lead, supervise and mentor Designer level staff on all of their responsibilities; have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of electrical engineering for project delivery; responsible for meeting firms engineering quality levels for the discipline on assigned projects; oversees and is integral to the development of design concepts by Designers, and ensure proper application and execution; verify designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings; mentor and encourage development of Designer level staff; responsible for applying firms risk management practices of project engineering; manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours; perform front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects; edit and develop basis of design narratives documenting project scope; apply best practices to set the proper direction of the project in SDs and DDs; lead and is an integral part of the design team to produce construction documents and specifications that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget; is an integral design team member facilitating completion of project construction administration tasks including RFI and submittal review and response; meet the project objectives while minimizing erroneous efforts; encourage collaboration to seek the best solutions; write studies and reports for Electrical systems on projects; can operate and/or have an understanding of lighting calculation and electrical power analysis software (i.e. AGI 32, SKM Power Tools and Energy Pro); execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination; contribute to revisions of company design standards and master specifications related to the Market Sector; expert in specific Electrical requirements for applications within a market sector(s); evaluate Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 5 years related experience. Required skills: Lead discipline design to produce construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget while minimizing erroneous efforts; Write feasibility studies and reports for Electrical systems on transportation infrastructure projects; Preparation of one-line diagrams and floor plans showing electrical device layouts, circuitry, fixtures, and equipment; Respond to RFI’s for transportation infrastructure projects, and accurately review submittals; Perform calculations for lighting, electrical demand load, available fault current study and voltage drop; Apply knowledge of building code requirements, NEC, IBC, NFPA and applicable codes in completing Electrical design; Ability to coordinate with other disciplines (Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, and Plumbing) and vendors to get drawings and specifications to construction level of detail. Up to 20% domestic travel required. Up to 50% remote work allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite.
