Job Description
Reporting to the Team Lead, the SR Electrical Engineer supports assigned projects and works closely with Project Managers to deliver for customers. Project Managers handle most client-facing functions, determine work scope and schedule, and hand off to the Engineer to delegate and execute with their team. The SR Electrical Engineer will train, mentor, and coach junior team members as needed, review and stamp drawings for Engineers in Training (EITs), and communicate with the Project Manager on progress, liaising with clients as necessary.
ResponsibilitiesReview and evaluate proposed LNG project electrical design concepts, including electric motor-driven LNG refrigeration compressor design and combined-cycle power plant configurations.Review and comment on Electrical Design documentation such as Basis of Design (BOD), Design Criteria, and Design Philosophy, in addition to all relevant project specifications.Examine EPC contractor electrical designs and coordinate as needed to meet all other engineering disciplines’ requirements. Provide expert input on Power Systems Studies, Electrical Load List, Single Line Diagrams, Equipment Datasheets, Plan drawings, Supplier documentation, etc.Provide engineering design recommendations and monitor the EPC contractor and subcontractors for adherence to all applicable North American design codes, standards, regulations, and guides such as OSHA, NEC, NFPA, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE, API, etc. Provide Electrical Engineering expertise for the design, specification, and functionality of all electrical systems, related equipment, and processes.Respond to reports and requests for information such as Technical Queries and formal RFIs.Participate in Process Hazard Analyses including E-HAZOP (Electrical HAZOP), HAZOP as required, and provide technical support to other risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability reviews.Assess and verify the integrity of electrical systems during Installation, Commissioning, and Startup to maximize system reliability and availability, by carrying out inspections and construction support as necessary.Review and approve changes through the change order process and verify that affected documents and drawings are updated accordingly.Evaluate the installation of Vendor Packages to ensure compliance requirements are met and monitor equipment performance during commissioning and startup. Ensure that any vendor-required changes to equipment or documentation are handled through the Management of Change (MOC) process.Travel to the site as business requirements dictate.Essential Skills12+ years experience within electrical engineering, ideally from EPCMsExperience with electrical power distribution systems within industrial environmentsExperience with high voltage from 138kV to 345kVFull cycle design experience (preFEED to construction)Working knowledge of O&G/LNG industry codes and standards, including EICAbility to travel as needed/on rotation to the USProficiency in power generation and combined cycle systemsExperience with ETAP softwareProfessional Engineer (PE) designationAdditional Skills & QualificationsPower generation experience, ideally within combined cycle power plantsExperience with electric motor drivesExperience within electrical utilities, specifically interactions with utility providers5+ years experience within LNG projects, with floating/offshore LNG experience being idealUS PE designationWork Environment
The position is based on-site in the Surrey Office, with consideration for the Calgary office if necessary. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5pm, with an unpaid lunch break. Fridays are half-days with the option to work from home, while Monday to Thursday are in-office days. The team maintains a business casual (closer to casual) dress code. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00
