As a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of our innovation team, focusing on designing and developing integrated solutions that drive our innovation projects.  You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of embedded solutions within the commercial foodservice industry.  You will work on both software and hardware components, ensuring seamless system integration.  You will work on a variety of projects, from prototyping new technologies to creating robust technical solutions for our products.  You will drive collaboration with cross-functional teams, leverage technical strategy and best practices, and contribute to the successful execution of innovation projects.  In this role, you will further develop technical subject-matter expertise while contributing significantly to MFT’s growth and innovation. 

What You’ll Do

Work on projects aimed at exploring new technologies, concepts, or methodologies to validate or demonstrate feasibility

Design, develop, and implement software and hardware solutions for prototype, proof-of-concept, and pilot projects

Rapidly build and iterate on software and hardware solutions to validate new ideas and technologies

Design and develop integrated systems that combine hardware and software components

Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for various hardware devices and platforms

Utilize C/C++ to develop code that runs directly on microcontrollers or microprocessors, controlling hardware and managing system resources

Develop device drivers to facilitate communication between software applications and hardware peripherals, such as sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces

Design and develop hardware control boards and systems using schematic capture and other design related hardware tools and applications

Create test plans and conduct thorough testing and debugging to validate software and hardware functionality, performance, and reliability

Perform embedded systems design, development, testing, and validation of technology and innovation concepts/solutions for beverage/dispensing, cooking, refrigeration, frozen, or other related products

Maintain clear and concise documentation of new development process, concepts,  prototypes, and findings

Collaborate with software and hardware engineers and other team members to ensure cohesive and integrated solutions

Collaborate with external partners, integrate their expertise with internal projects, and ensure they meet the required specifications

Plan and coordinate innovation projects, manage software and hardware timelines and deliverables

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying them to drive innovation

Be comfortable with the unknown, flexible and adaptable when navigating uncharted territory

Skills/Experience We’re Looking For

Experience with embedded software architecture and system design, product development and product launches

Knowledge and experience with operating systems such as Zephyr, RTOS, TinyOS, or others; experience with bare metal is a plus.

Proficiency in C and C++ for developing embedded software

Knowledge of ARM Cortex-M or other microcontroller/microprocessor embedded architectures

Experience developing control boards with several of the following electrical components and systems: controls, sensors, touch screens/displays, motors, infotainment, power supplies, wire harness, converters, inverters, gauges, switches, etc.

Experience with electronics schematic capture, circuit simulation, PCB layout, prototyping, debugging, verification

Proficiency in schematic capture, layout, and other design related tools and applications (e.g., Altium, Cadence, etc.)

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects

Experience in rapid prototyping and iterative development

Innovative mindset, system thinker, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and creativity to identify and solve problems

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical concepts to cross-functional teams

Demonstrated understanding of embedded systems architecture, design, analysis, data management, and programming

Knowledge of communication protocols such as ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, etc. and secure OTA updates

Knowledgeable of emerging technologies such as IoT, artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, software security, etc.

Experience with technology research, idea generation, technology platforming strategies, and working with external partners

Experience working with and in an Advanced R&D or Technology and Innovation group

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

7-10+ years of experience architecting, designing, implementing, and launching software systems, products, and solutions

Target Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000

Pay Range:

104,000.00 - 156,000.00
