The Senior Engineer, Facilities ensures code and regulation compliance in design, maintenance, and construction of facilities assets, such as piping, regulating, metering, odorization, and gas conditioning equipment, including line heaters, filters/separators, and associated high pressure piping. This is completed through conducting reviews of relevant codes and ensuring proper design guides and work procedures are in place, ensuring proper management of change occurs for any changes to applicable standards and in particular the regulatory compliance owned by the Facilities Engineering group as well as authenticating design documents.

The Senior Engineer, Facilities will also support projects by reviewing, improving, and authenticating designs and job procedures applicable to Facilities Engineering, and will support and train personnel to build and develop competencies in Facilities design.

Responsibilities:

Review and execute Pipeline Facilities designs and procedures with a focus on Transmission systems to ensure they meet project requirements and standards. Provide technical assistance, guidance, mentoring, and training to engineering personnel working on Facilities designs and projects. Create and maintain process for annual design guide document reviews. Share processes and lessons learned with other teams and employees as required. Complete annual regulatory compliance reviews including stakeholder engagement for documents and processes owned by operations, engineering and construction.  Execute management of change for design, maintenance, and construction changes that occur as a result of regulatory compliance reviews, code changes, and internally identified corrective action requests and continual improvement efforts. This includes completing and authenticating engineering risk assessments. Provide Facilities support and engagement for new business initiatives (i.e. non-regulated, hydrogen, RNG, weld quality updates, new technology) and assist in project design and authenticating projects as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in the fields of Mechanical or Chemical. Membership as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with APEGA is required. Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in Pipeline Facilities Design, with a focus on natural gas transmission systems. Knowledge of construction and operations practices. Experience in project management, construction, and operations of natural gas transmission systems Knowledge of relevant codes and standards. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
