Senior Engineer, Production

POSITION OVERVIEW

This Senior Engineer will report to the Principal Engineer, Production and will serve as a key technical support to the Principal Engineer, Production in ensuring Production Engineering Standards, Processes, Procedures, and Tools are developed and maintained, and working with operating facility teams at Cheniere Energy Facilities to ensure compliance with same. 

 

The person in this role will also provide Production Engineering technical advice and lend his/her knowledge to support the production plan and production performance analysis to the Cheniere Energy Facilities at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi, and the Cheniere Energy Inc. Houston office.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Will be responsible for tracking and reporting progress on a variety of operations and associated business activities as they relate to governance, operational performance, process optimization, strategic planning, and organizational alignment.  Assist Principal Engineer, Production in maintaining enterprise-wide production engineering processes, procedures, and tools. Facilitate consultation, review, and serve as technical advisor on existing production engineering procedures and processes with operating facility teams. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and governance of all production related standards under Cheniere’s Integrated Management System. Govern the development and delivery of the rolling five-year production plans for each operating asset, ensuring coordination, data alignment and consistency.  Perform data validation and analyses by applying appropriate analytical tools and systems to deliver these activities effectively. Develop and utilize forecasting and scheduling tools and act as a secondary point of contact with Commercial Operations and Financial planning to ensure daily, monthly, and annual production targets are set.  Participate in strategy planning with site Production teams, propose corrective measures to overcome the limitations and deficiencies to ensure targets are met. Responsible for the preparation and timely issue of all assigned production reports, as they relate to the company production performance, and at frequencies as dictated by relevant internal and external timelines. Provide required analysis of production forecasting data and forecasting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Provide production engineering support for enterprise-wide production data reporting systems and tools development. Optimize analytical and reporting efforts by developing and implementing processes and tools to automate report creation and improve data quality. Work with facility teams in the governance and implementation of the production reporting and loss- accounting systems. Ensure all the relevant production data and KPIs are collected and accurately reported for input into assigned bench-marking exercises. Provide Production Engineering Support as needed to plant Production personnel, as well as other business stakeholders outside of Operations (e.g. Commercial Operations, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Supply Chain, etc.) Develop, implement, and maintain tools to calculate and track flared quantities to ensure compliance with Environmental Regulatory requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain any other required Environmental Monitoring tools and validate deviations and assist with troubleshooting activities to minimize/prevent non-compliant operations. Support operational readiness of new assets through technical support, coordination, and assurance activities. Conduct a wide variety of ad hoc analyses to support senior management decision making.   Understand the technical Management of Change (MOC) process and utilize it in support of facility changes. Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) and Regulatory Agency Audits as needed. Reinforce safety and environmental awareness through frequent job observations and by interfacing with plant personnel. Work with Engineering and Construction department to ensure Operations and Maintenance (O&M) interests are represented on major projects.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

The Senior Engineer, Production will have an engineering background with demonstrable knowledge of hydrocarbon processing, strong knowledge of the design, operation, and maintenance of process equipment and associated systems. The Senior Engineer, Production would have demonstrable experience in a hydrocarbon processing environment and have advanced understanding and knowledge of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, hydrocarbon process chemistry, hazards of hydrocarbon processes, and methods/systems and tools used to keep process facilities operating in a safe manner. 

 

The person in this role should have working knowledge of the fundamentals of hydrocarbon measurement and reporting standards pertaining to gaseous/liquids hydrocarbon streams and the execution of energy and material balances in a hydrocarbon processing facility. Experience in production planning for a hydrocarbon processing facility or pipeline operation is preferred.

 

Additional skills:  Strong leadership and business administration abilities.  Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.  Well versed in a wide variety of operational analytics.   Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to influence without direct authority.  Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and oral.  Must be able to understand complex issues and effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.  Highly flexibility and adaptable; able to respond quickly to shifting priorities.   Must have the ability to proactively work with minimal supervision.  Solid commitment to safety and dedication to the Company’s core values.  Able to work with a culturally diverse group of business and technical teams.  Possess the personality and ability to relate to and establish a mutually respectful relationship with management, peers, and various facility level workers.  Highly efficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Advanced Excel skills are required. Strong attention to detail with a proven record of delivering accuracy with final work products.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Education and Certifications:  Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical or other engineering function; Chemical engineering preferred.  A Professional Engineer’s (PE) License is a plus. Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status. 

 

Experience:  Senior Engineer – Five (5) to ten (10) of experience in an operations or operations support role within natural gas, refining or petrochemical industry.  LNG experience is a plus.

The Senior Engineer, Production requires minimal supervision and possesses the ability to function in a highly dynamic environment.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Job is primarily performed in an office environment.   Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.  Some limited domestic travel required to our operating sites, as business conditions dictate.  Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
