Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Perform laser-eye, thermal, and electrical safety tests to ensure that products comply with regulatory standards. Serve as a technical consultant on radiative emissions, radiative immunity, and ESD immunity tests requirements. Prepare test plans based on electrical schematics, execute, and document results of laser eye safety, Declarations of Conformance, flammability, etc. for transceiver products. Write/update simple test code to automate and control test conditions. Work with various safety agencies to obtain certifications and test reports. Generate laser product reports for new products and annual laser products shipment report for the FDA. Coordinate with marketing and development to assure that safety certificates are available at key milestones in the development process. Work with our manufacturing sites on factory audits. Maintain and update safety certifications as neededEducation & Experience
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent education and at least 5 years of industry experience Prior experience with electronic testing is required (oscilloscopes, temperature chambers, sequencing power supplies). Experience testing laser transceivers. Experience in test design and automation. Strong multi-disciplinary background, with a high capacity for innovation and problem solving is essential. Attention to detail is a must.Skills
Familiar with Microsoft Office - able to write test reports using Word and PowerPoint, download data from databases and organize/simplify for analysis used for annual reports. Individual must be self-motivated and be able to organize and manage his/her daily work with minimal direction as well as oversee the work technicians. Individual must have strong interpersonal/teaming skills. Ability to clearly communicate technical information verbally and in writingWorking Conditions
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, carrying out multiple projects at a time.Physical Requirements
Able to work in the clean room environment when needed.Safety Requirements
All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.
Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.
