Position Description:

          Vocera now a part of Stryker is looking for a seasoned Senior SDET Engineer to spearhead automation initiatives for the Clinical Communication and Workflow Platform. The platform is used by leading hospitals around the country and is poised for significant growth in the coming years. In this role, your primary focus will be developing and implementing automation frameworks for API/End-to-end testing, ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of backend systems. Leveraging your expertise in Java, Kotlin, Python, and Groovy, you will design robust automation solutions while utilizing tools such as Postman and TestRail, among others. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps engineers, product owners, and developers, to optimize testing processes and ensure seamless integration across complex, distributed environments. You will also be responsible for functional testing the code that forms a part of the platform. This position will report to the Senior Manager of R&D.

What you will do:

Design, implement, and optimize automation frameworks for server-side (both cloud and on-prem) and API testing, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance across systems.

Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies for complex server-side applications and distributed systems.

Utilize Postman and Postman collections for API testing and automate API interactions for efficient server-side test coverage.

Manage and maintain test cases, test runs, and reporting using TestRail to ensure traceability and visibility of testing efforts.

Assist in functional testing of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

Enhance observability and traceability of automated test pipelines, improving overall QA processes and system reliability.

Collaborate with development teams, system architects, solution architects, and cross-functional teams to advance testing automation initiatives in alignment with evolving system architectures.

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in production environments, automate routine testing tasks, and resolve technical problems related to server-side applications.

Use Jira for tracking issues and progress, aligning automation efforts with SAFe Agile processes to ensure timely and effective delivery.

Mentor junior QA automation engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and supporting their professional development.

Participate in customer support escalations and on-call rotations to identify and resolve platform issues, supporting the development team.

Continuously improve test automation frameworks to drive efficiency and innovation in server-side automation strategies.

Competencies:

Extensive experience in API testing using tools like Postman and Postman collections.

Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks for server-side testing using Java, Kotlin, and Python.

Expertise in designing and implementing test automation for backend systems, focusing on RESTful APIs and microservices.

Proficiency with Postman, including writing and automating Postman collections for comprehensive API test coverage.

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and cloud-native solutions (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Prometheus, Terraform) and integrating them into automation pipelines.

Working knowledge of Linux environments and scripting languages (Bash, Shell).

Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server).

Exposure to Agile methodologies, including SAFe Agile, and experience using Jira for issue tracking and progress reporting.

Proficiency in developing comprehensive test plans and strategies for complex software systems.

Experience using TestRail for test case management, execution, and reporting.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead complex automation projects.

What you will need:

Bachelor’s degree.

4+ years of experience in QA automation, with a focus on server-side and API testing.

2+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments is a plus.

Strong expertise in API testing using Postman and Postman collections.

Programming experience in Java, Kotlin, and Python with a focus on server-side test automation.

Experience with test automation frameworks for distributed systems, backend APIs, and microservices.

Familiarity with Jira for issue tracking, reporting, and sprint planning within SAFe Agile processes.

Proven track record of successfully implementing and maintaining large-scale automation projects.

Experience in creating and managing test plans for complex software systems.

Proficiency in using TestRail for test case management and reporting.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
