We seek a skilled GitLab Engineer with over 5 years of experience in Git and GitLab/GitHub administration, specifically focusing on On-Prem services. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in resolving Git issues, configuring CI/CD pipelines, and integrating development workflows with IDEs. This role demands proficiency in GitLab CI/CD, strong troubleshooting abilities, and excellent communication skills.



Key Responsibilities:



1. Git Proficiency:

- Demonstrate a solid understanding of Git fundamentals and version control best practices.

2. Issue Resolution:

- Experience in resolving Git issues on user machines, including setup, configuration, and conflict resolution.

3. GitLab/GitHub Administration:

- Manage and administer GitLab/GitHub repositories, including user permissions, repository settings, and access controls.

4. CI/CD Configuration:

- Expert in setting up and optimizing GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.

5. Programming Skills:

- Proficient in programming languages such as Python or Bash for automation, scripting, and integration tasks.

6. Linux Debugging:

- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues in Linux environments not limited to Git services.

7. Collaboration:

- Collaborate effectively with development teams to ensure GitLab workflows align with project requirements and facilitate smooth development processes.



8. IDE Integrations:

- Integrate Git workflows within popular IDEs, including VS Code Git Flow, ensuring seamless user experience.

9. Infrastructure Support:

- Support and maintain Git infrastructure for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment, ensuring high availability and performance.

10. Documentation:

- Document processes, configurations, and best practices for GitLab usage to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.



Preferred Qualifications:

1. Repo Tool Experience:

- Familiarity with Google’s Repo Tool for managing multiple Git repositories efficiently.

2. On-Premise Environment Experience:

- Experience working with on-premise GitLab/GitHub installations and maintaining their infrastructure.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

4. Version Control Systems:

- Prior experience with other version control systems is a plus.

5. Monitoring and Performance Tuning:

- Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance tuning practices for Git services.
