Job Title: Senior Engineer

Purpose of Role: To support Weir Minerals Canada Business in the areas of mechanical engineering related to product orders, system engineering involving multiple products and manufacturing support. The role involves creating design concepts, validation, engineering calculations, and CAD. Produce detailed engineering drawings, reports for use in the production of parts and assemblies. Reviews design and documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria and regional standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to Weir’s zero-harm behaviours in support of the drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Create 3D CAD models , manufacturing drawings, and assemblies for the Weir products and systems based on the design requirement.
Perform engineering calculations and simulations for design validation
Ensure that the deliverables align with relevant design requirements (specifications, standards, schedule, etc.) and best industry practices/guidelines.
Execute projects as per defined quality, on time delivery & schedule.
Work independently without supervision.
Guide team members as needed for concept generation and trouble shooting.
Communicate/report/document technical information with the project team and customer.
Perform drive calculations based on the inputs provided and able to independently select & decide the necessary sheaves, bushings, belts, gearbox, and couplings etc.
Perform quality checking of drawings generated by peers and provide feedback.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in the area of mechanical engineering and system design.
Strong mechanical design engineering knowledge.
Able to perform and interpret engineering calculation and simulation
Thorough understanding of manufacturing process is required.
Strong in sheet metal and plate works design and detailing.
Good understanding of structural member sizes and connections.
Good product knowledge any type of mechanical machines and tooling
Able to do system engineering and integration of equipment like pumps, valves, vibrating equipment, electric motors etc.
Good understanding of mechanical drives, bearings, exciters, etc.
Basic knowledge on metals and materials and its application
Conversant with GD&T and basic drawing principles
Must be proficient in using 3D & 2D solid modelling tools prefereably UGNX.
Knowledge of PLM(such as Teamcenter) processes and SAP.
