We are looking for a self-directed and energetic Senior Engineer to lead the development of innovative filtration media and methods for use in existing markets as well as in new markets/customers. The candidate will closely interact across Corporate Technology teams, Global Business Units and Manufacturing locations. Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration are a pre-requisite due to the cross functional nature of the role.
This role will be based out of Bloomington, MN HQ and does not have fully remote capabilities.
Role Responsibilities:
Hands-on work to execute and manage development efforts resulting in commercially valuable technology solutions.
Learn and operate analytical and test equipment as needed.
Run engineering trials on lab/pilot machines.
Develop new or improved testing designs, methods and or modelling techniques as necessary.
Appraise, develop and recommend new materials, product and/or technology solutions to determine potential to address application needs.
Stay abreast of broad industry trends in order to anticipate and develop suitable technology solutions.
Effectively manage the interaction of suppliers, technology partners and customers in the technology development process.
Provide technical input into business case development within the technology development process
Actively manage and lead projects within an established processes while maintaining technical documentation and effective communication with key stakeholders and Senior Leadership.
Frequently interact with filter media suppliers, Donaldson plants and testing facilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar.
5+ years' of relevant experience in a related research-intensive environment or Master's/ PhD degree in engineering/science with relevant research experience in an academic setting will substitute for industry experience.
3+ years’ experience in filtration and filter media.
Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of creativity, innovation and prototyping methods to evaluate new concepts and materials as evidenced by publications, presentations or patents.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing and development of filter media and elements.
Demonstrated experience in the design, manufacturing, and structure-property characterization of polymers/fiber/media materials in woven and nonwovens.
A demonstrated understanding around aerosol technology as it relates to measurement and instrumentation - An understanding around the types of airborne contaminants (such as chemicals, soot, contaminant aerosols, oil/particle mixtures), their generation mechanisms, measurement methods and prior/current research in this field.
Prior experience in liquid (fuel, hydraulics, lubes, water) filtration.
Strong knowledge of project management methodology, processes, techniques and tools.
An ability to understand and apply modelling tools in the development of new media structures in support of program goals.
Independent thinker and self-starter with a passion for learning, tendency towards action and a bias towards the application of scientific principles into new technologies.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of company personnel and others outside of the company.
Annual Salary Range: $86,200 - $111,000. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance.
