Key responsibilities:

As a Senior Engineer—Aircraft Systems, you will be responsible for various tasks vital to the design, maintenance, and operation of United Airlines' aircraft systems. You will work with a team of engineers and experts to resolve complex technical issues and implement engineering solutions that enhance the performance and safety of our aircraft.

·       Analyze and resolve complex issues concerning the design, operation, and maintenance of aircraft systems, components, and subsystems. This will involve applying a structured and analytical approach to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

·       Define and review maintenance programs, configuration management, and serviceability criteria to ensure that all aircraft systems operate safely and comply with legal and regulatory standards. You will regularly assess the impact of new modifications or equipment on system reliability, performance, and maintenance needs.

·       Oversee the design, testing, and management of technical projects to improve the aircraft’s systems. You’ll work to identify the most efficient solutions and coordinate the implementation of these solutions while ensuring that projects meet all deadlines, cost parameters, and quality standards.

·       Be the go-to expert for on-site technical support, guiding line, and base operations teams. Additionally, you’ll communicate technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigations to internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring alignment across teams.

·       Ensure that all engineering solutions adhere to airworthiness standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with operational groups to support compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), ensuring that safety is always prioritized.

·       Assess the cost impact of fleet decisions, helping optimize overall operational efficiency by balancing quality, cost, asset utilization, and reliability. Your expertise will contribute to United's fleet's long-term, cost-effective management.

·       Manage technical specifications and secure necessary FAA approvals for modifications, ensuring that all changes meet the highest safety and performance standards.

Location: This position is at United Airlines Hangar X, Houston, TX. A hybrid work schedule is available, typically requiring three days in the office, subject to change based on company needs.

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace), related technical field, or equivalent relative work experienceRelevant engineering experience: Senior Engineer I (5-8 years) or Senior Engineer II (8+ years) Strong technical background with the ability to interpret complex engineering and OEM documents.Proven experience in project development and management, especially for regulatory compliance modifications and system-specific responsibilities.Effective communication skills for multi-functional collaboration Familiarity with airline or OEM operations and regulatory standards, including CFRs and airworthiness standards.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.Successful completion of an interview is required to meet job qualifications.Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

Hands-on experience with ATA Airline Systems Chapters and Electrical Load Analysis (ELA).Specialized experience with ATA 24-chapter systems and general ATA Chapters in aircraft systems, structures, powerplant, and avionics.Previous experience managing complex systems projects in an airline or OEM setting.


The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
