The Job:
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be part of our Battery team working as an Onsite employee. You’ll get to:
Work with cross functional teams to qualify alternate battery cells, electronic modules and other components-based battery packs along with second source development for subcomponentsProvide ongoing technical platform support for all SBD Battery products that have progressed past Milestone 8.Design Changes resulting from immediate production needsDesign Changes resulting from technological advancementsDesign changes resulting from safety, marketing, or product management directives.Provide Technical Support to the Global Strategic Sourcing Group.Work on streamlined universal design strategies for volume discountsIdentify and lead value initiatives (VI’s) associated with the product line.Expected to evaluate, approve, and implement REA and ECN orders. Expected to utilize lab test equipment such as data collection equipment, power supply and electronic load to conduct testing. Employ Design of Experiments and other scientific methods to develop/qualify processes. Work with Global RE teams to maintain consistent quality and uniform processing. Lead investigations and root cause analysis resulting from manufacturing issues or post sales feedback. Monitor and track warranty rates and concernsProvide leadership updates on product line through SBD’s internal Product Design Review (PDR) system.Work closely with cross functional groups including test departments, reliability/quality teams and manufacturing plants.Work closely with SBD’s electrification group to qualify new or upgraded lithium-ion cells into existing pack designs. Coordinate with SBD’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure DFM concepts are adaptedThe Person:

B.S. or equivalent in Mechanical / Electro-mechanical engineering2 - 5 years of experience in product development of Li Ion Battery packs and Battery Management systemsWorking knowledge of 3D modeling software, CATIA V5 preferredFamiliarity with Printed Circuit Board design desiredWorking knowledge of manufacturing processes for various electronic and other productsAble to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule and cost commitmentsHave excellent communication skills to deal with customers and suppliers to meet the targets of scheduled eventsSupplier development for key components and working with contract manufacturersWorking knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stacks ups, Failure analysis etc.Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvementAble to travel domestically and internationally- 10%The Details:

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $68,500 - $123,500 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
