BL Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to support our growing Energy team in Norwood, MA. The candidate will have the opportunity to be a key person championing BL’s expansion of services in the electrical market and take a leadership role within the Energy group.  This role is seeking a person experienced in the design and engineering of electrical assets.  This role is anticipated to have potential involvement in the design of distribution assets (overhead and underground), substations, photovoltaic (PV) solar arrays, battery energy storage, EV chargers, and other electrical infrastructure. 

 General Responsibilities Include:

Review project and develop detailed scope including gathering all pertinent drawings and data Manage and participate in construction drawings completion utilizing AutoCAD Hold & document pre-design & post-design field walkdowns Identify and order long lead material including specification of appropriate construction units for the design Prepare and submit municipal permit sketches and applications Perform QA/QC design peer reviews Provide construction support by participating in pre-bid meetings, answering field questions, and responding to any issues during construction Interpret red-line documents and notate as-built changes on record drawings for drafting updates Perform electrical, clearance, and cable pulling / strength calculations Coordinate projects with communication cable attachments and complete joint pole use requests Coordinate with other discipline leads on large multidiscipline projects

Required Experience:

8+ years' experience designing electric utility power distribution (15 kV and below) overhead and underground lines OR 5+ years experience designing distribution substations Must possess strong interpersonal, communications and technical skills BSEE is required PE License
