Senior Engineer (Electrical/Energy Storage Design)
Overview Responsible for leading solar energy storage design. Location: This is a remote position, which can be based anywhere in the U.S. This position has limited travel, less than 20% of the time. Responsibilities Review utility scale Battery Energy storage design, optimization of facilities, and use case analysis Produce designs, layouts, Single Line Diagrams, and Material Take-Off’s for estimating purposes Closely interface with Estimating to support development of competitive BESS solutions Perform calculations for losses, conductor sizing, equipment rating, fusing and protection consistent with NEC, ANSI, IEC and UL Work closely with Execution team as SME for technical requests Develop processes to improve ongoing efforts and repeated tasks to produce accurate repeatable results and support rapid growth and scaling of business Support Engineering managers as SME for projects in Engineering phase Research and shortlist new energy storage technologies that will increase value to our clients Create pricing and modeling tools to support estimating team Use modeling software to create highly accurate production estimates Draw upon technical and industry experience to characterize losses due to equipment behavior and environmental effects Use or create software tools to optimize solar/wind and storage designs for energy yield and project value across multiple technology solutions Create site-specific building blocks and layouts for proposals and to drive detailed engineering activities Use internal tools and industry standards to optimize project designs for constraints such as scope, schedule, budget and geography Support troubleshooting and resolution of project engineering, construction, and performance issues as applicable Develop processes to streamline technical inputs to bid operations Implement industry best practices into design and execution Demonstrated understanding in Code and Standards Proposal support Support project turnover and performance testing of new facilities Performance guarantee validation Qualifications Education and Work Experience Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of energy storage/renewables and 5-7 years of engineering work experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. Advanced Degree preferred.
