What You Will Do

Hot Section Engineering (HSE) at Pratt & Whitney is looking for experienced and highly motivated engineers to join its team as Senior Engineers in our East Hartford, CT location.  In this role, the individuals will be responsible for executing hot section component thermal analyses and designs necessary to support the development, validation, production implementation and management of advanced and operational engines flying across the globe.

Execute designs and thermal analyses of cooled and uncooled turbine airfoils and BOAS

Mentor and technically guide durability engineers in performing heat transfer, fluid flow, and computational fluid dynamics analyses

Hot section component mission life and validation analyses

Interface with internal and external customers, including manufacturing, casting, overhaul, and repair facilities

Document and present technical material to design teams, senior leadership, and executives to drive informed decisions

Qualifications You Must Have

BS in Engineering

5 years of engineering experience in the design of cooled hot section components, or 3 years with a Masters degree or PHD w/no experience

Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship ​

Qualifications We Prefer

Masters Degree or PhD preferred in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Knowledge and publication in thermal sciences

Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)-Department Overview

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units. Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

What Is My Role Type:

In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We’ve introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is:

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
