AIS is seeking an I&C Engineer to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN. The successful candidate will be required to perform engineering calculations and analysis within the scope of Instrumentation and Controls engineering and provide rigorous written documentation supporting design decisions. Effectively interface with various departments including Quality Assurance, Procurement, Project Management, Operations. Provide technical field leadership support to solve equipment malfunctions. Maintain system configuration documentation including, but not limited to system drawings, design specifications, trending analysis, and system health indicators including performing system health walk downs and system health reports. Obtain and maintain qualifications on annual training covering commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used to complete the engineering process. Perform electrical modification/evaluation of existing systems, perform routine inspections for adherence to applicable building/construction codes/regulations, engineering design change processes, and configuration design control. Responsibilities
Performs engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues report and maintains related data
Supports discipline related support across multiple projects, facilities, and sites (Y12, ORNL, Heritage Center)
Provides design and field engineering support on related field as needed to support troubleshooting or design efforts
Maintains liaison with design and drafting groups
Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required
Advises the Supervising Discipline Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems
Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks
Plans and schedules engineering efforts associated with assigned project
Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities
Keeps proper engineering files and records
Develops understanding of industry codes and standards
Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments
Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training
Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies
Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company
Conforms to company core values and assists others to adhere to them
Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility
Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related degree in engineering or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university
10+ years of experience required
Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers
Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures
Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction
Basic oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Professional Engineer License preferred
Experience working in the nuclear industry and with hazardous materials is preferred
