What you will doAs the Senior Wiring and Harness Engineer you will develop complex electrical wiring harness designs across multiple harness families design using software (like Saber/Creo) and inputs from a cross-functional team. You will be responsible for creating harness drawings derived from analytical electrical needs to distribute power and protection to a complex architecture. Heavy emphasis is placed on level of truck knowledge, harness analysis, interaction within department and external organizations, detailed documentation, and report writing. Other areas of expertise include, harness cost analysis, complete schematic releases, planning plant support activities, coordination of designs, utilizing harness quality tools like FMEA and DFA, and checking complete design. This position requires a high level of understanding of circuit functionality, vehicle functions, wiring harness development tools and processes inside a global engineering environment.
Additional Responsibilities
Develop and implement complex electrical wiring harness solutions. Here we are talking about 2D activities such as drawings and schematics but also 3D tasks like harness design. Create, update and manage the product technical documentations. Ensure design correctness and completeness for all wiring harness releases (according to Volvo standards). Secure and analyze input data. Secure release on time. Leading wiring design activities (time plan, technical expertise etc.) in collaboration with others wiring and packaging engineers. Collaborate with manufacturing and aftermarket teams, product finance, buyers and suppliers to introduce quality design solutions. Assist and support current and new production design projects. Be proactive when it comes to continuous improvement (process, product, team organization).

Our team, Wiring Harness, is a critical part of the Electrical Engineering and Vehicle Connectivity (EEVC) department for Volvo Group North America (VGNA). EEVC delivers all electrical and software features for Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in the North American market. We work with diesel platforms, electromobility products, automation, and connectivity in a committed effort to drive progress and shape the future landscape of sustainable transportation. We develop and maintain solutions for the North American market in close collaboration with development teams around the world with increased focus on automation and digitalization.
The Wiring Harness team develops and implements complex electrical wiring harness projects within area of assignment including related routing and clipping solutions. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electrical & electronics/mechatronics engineering. 5-8+ years Electrical Engineering experience. Expert knowledge of development processes for wiring harnesses SAE, IEEE, and Mil standards Strong knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle electrical systems
Preferred Qualifications
