The impact assessment team coordinate, manage and produce Impact Assessments, working with a variety of technical disciplines on a wide range of different types of development. 

The team have expertise in environmental impact assessment (EIA), strategic environmental assessment (SEA), health impact assessment (HIA), and integrated impact assessment (IIA) We have a track record of delivering impact assessments for a range of development types, including high profile, major infrastructure and development projects.

The Opportunity

We are currently conducting impact assessments for some of the most prominent infrastructure projects in the UK. We are looking for a senior environmental consultant to join our impact assessment team, where you will be responsible for delivering and managing projects.

In this role, you will carry out impact assessments across a range of projects, including major national infrastructure projects in the transport, water, and energy sectors, as well as urban development projects. Our clients include private developers, public sector authorities, and various other organizations. You will work within a multi-disciplinary environment with specialists in environmental science, planning, engineering, and urban design, working closely with both internal and external technical disciplines to provide high-quality environmental consultancy services. Your responsibilities will include conducting technical work, as well as assisting with the preparation of proposals and marketing activities.

You will be responsible for delivering environmental impact assessments, managing technical teams, and reviewing reports. This includes writing EIA reports, ensuring compliance with regulations, overseeing project scheduling and budgets, leading multi-disciplinary teams, liaising with clients, advising on mitigation measures, engaging with stakeholders, conducting project reviews, and preparing bids and presentations.

Is this role right for you?

In order to be successful, you will have previous experience working within a commercial environment, including client liaison, programme and time management, quality assurance and financial/budget control.  You will be confident in managing more junior staff, including line management tasks where appropriate.  Project experience in Energy and/or Water sectors along with Chartered Environmentalist status is very much desirable. 

We are interested in the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

Good understanding of environmental legislation, and knowledge of application of relevant legislation, policy and guidance in respect to impact assessment for a range of project types Undertaking EIA in Scotland (TCPA and section 36 & 37) Experience of the Planning Act 2008 Development Consent Order (DCO) process desirable Have a proven ability to project manage environmental projects, successfully managing teams of technical specialists and multi-disciplinary teams Good analytical skills with a focus on finding solutions in relation to impact assessment technical and project management issues Full membership of an appropriate institute (e.g. Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) or equivalent)
