Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental Professional to join our team in Bartow. This person will manage junior scientists/technicians, communicate with clients, perform fieldwork, and write reports in support of a variety of Emergency Response, Remediation, and environmental due diligence projects.
ResponsibilitiesProject, client, and people managementPrepare reports based upon field notes, interpretation of laboratory reports, and other data, including source removal, site assessment, and othersOversee work of subcontractors including construction and water well contractors, laboratories, and othersPerform environmental site investigation and remediation work; soil and groundwater sampling; vapor intrusion investigation; remedial investigation; design, implementation, and monitoring; pilot tests; data management; processing and evaluationMaintain test equipment and work area in clean working order, including modifying and calibrating equipmentMaintain and troubleshoot mechanical remediation systems and monitoring systemsConduct environmental sampling and document field activities in field notebooks and field graphics including groundwater sampling logs, well completion logs, and soils logsEssential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology5 years of relevant environmental experienceAbility to work independently and lead othersValid Florida Driver’s LicenseOSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with updates preferredStrong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to work independently and in a team environmentUnderstanding of environmental regulations related to contaminated sites, drinking water, and related regulationsAbility to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignmentsUnderstanding standard methods for analyzing various chemical parameters including applicable procedures, detection limits, and quality assurance techniquesProficient in the use of a computer to access, input, and review test data in spreadsheets, tables, graphs, and various software programsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others including clients, agency personnel, and the publicStrong written and verbal communication skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with environmental sampling, site assessment, remediation, and geologyProficiency in report writing related to hazardous waste and hazardous materialKnowledge of soil and water sampling techniquesWork Environment
The role requires starting out in the office each day or traveling to a project site in the field. The company has a large Emergency Response division, and environmental scientists work on call for emergencies one week per month. Most fieldwork involves daily travel, but there will be projects periodically throughout Florida that require overnight stays. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27
