DescriptionUnder general supervision, provides engineering technical expertise, guidance and leadership for environmental projects and programs at assigned site.
Determine and assess environmental risk and develops regulatory documentation of resultsPerform site inspections and recommend appropriate action to management in compliance with regulationsReview and develop appropriate recommendations regarding planned expansion, modification or closure of facilities which affect environmental discharges, emissions, and hazardous materialsServe as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex environmental projects such as compliance, remediation, or reclamationEvaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentProvide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices, and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulationsContribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for environmental systems and issuesMaintain current working knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental and occupational health regulations such as RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA, SARA, Clean Air and Water ActsProvide leadership to less experienced engineers and techniciansMay represent the site on company sponsored steering teamsPerform other duties as requiredQualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Environmental Science or closely related area (can substitute an additional 5 years of experience in mining or mineral processing operations for the degree requirement) andTen (10) years experience in environmental monitoring, sampling and reporting as an Environmental Technician , Specialist or in a closely related roleAdditional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred; HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS, Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, CHMMKnowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, incident investigating and reporting protocols
Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
Skilled in managing large/complex environmental projects
Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement
Able to analyze a wide range of soil, water and air samples to recognize potential environmental hazards
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingPreferred

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$130,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
