The Senior Estimator is responsible for reviewing project documents, estimating labor and materials costs, and communicating financial costs and project timelines to internal and external customers in the preparation and delivery of estimates and proposals.

Essential Functions:

Review specifications and construction drawings in the development of scopes of work including identifying required scopes/trades and quantities Review contracts prior to bid to ensure that terms, conditions, exclusions, and qualifications included in the owner's contract are appropriately addressed in the cost estimate Estimate self-performed and subcontractor performed work, pricing the labor, equipment, and material costs Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, bid tabulations, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, job costs system, etc. into unit cost, man-hour, and crew production rates Source vendors and subcontractors for various projects Coordinate, obtain, and review vendor and subcontractor quotations prior to bid Perform mechanical process piping takeoff and pricing Perform or coordinate quantity takeoff, assembling direct cost estimate and analyzing alternate construction methods/resources to determine and improve cost effectiveness Review design options and/or recommend best solution/alternative based on cost-effectiveness, value engineering or availability of materials Support project management by estimating extra work items and change orders

Required Qualifications

Diploma in construction/engineering technology 4 to 8 years of progressive responsibility estimating in a heavy and industrial construction environment Experience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and industry standards Experience with discipline-specific industry standards (API, ASME, AWWA, NACE, ACI, etc.) is preferred Experience with developing bidding strategies associated with various bid delivery methodologies (fixed price, design-build, CMAR, cost-plus) preferred Ability to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings Ability to produce detailed, final cost and time estimates Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks/constructability issues and be able to appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate Ability to identify value-engineering alternatives Ability to travel occasionally as needed for site visits and bid delivery
