Overview Doyon Management Services, LLC(DMS)provides Design-Build and General Construction Services on demolition, new construction, renovations, repairs, and civil projects at government-owned facilities and military installations. We work with government clients to meet agency goals and deliver high quality construction projects in the safest manner possible. The Senior Estimator - Construction prepares cost estimates for construction projects to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. Depending on the size of the department the Senior Estimator will supervise and oversee estimating operations. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Estimating commercial building construction and civil / public works projects Project scheduling and cost schedule allocation Budgeting and working with construction / project managers Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts Supervise and mentor Estimators, Project Engineers, and other staff with the estimating department Development of employees EEO/AA Enforcement/Compliance Standards, as set forth further in the Job Summary and Core Requirements sections Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Construction Management or trade school equivalent and 10 years’ experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience with federal government projects such as USACE and/or NAVFAC Military construction project experience Excellent communication and computer skills Experience using On-screen Takeoff software Proficient in using Microsoft Excel Government project experience a plus, but not necessary if other commercial experience is sufficient Preferred School construction projects WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of the work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to forty pounds. SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range for this role is $130,000 -$150,000 per year. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.
