We continue to research and develop treatments for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, and other orphan diseases. **How you’ll contribute** The Senior Facilities Manager ensures uninterrupted operations through the management of breakdown support, facility maintenance, and general facilities services for all buildings, infrastructure, utilities equipment, laboratory/operations support equipment, and systems at a Designated Pathogen Free (DPF) facility site. This includes fast response and recovery of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, for both GMP and non-GMP systems in a manner consistent with all compliance requirements. Emphasis is placed on positive response to the requests/requirements of the business, environmental, health, & safety, and quality work. In addition, this role will support manufacturing and change management initiatives including but not limited to professional maintenance, early equipment management, energy & environment, and display a passion for excellence in all manufacturing and business initiatives. This position is located in Stewartville, MN. + Independently manage the service and maintenance of internal environmental controls (HVAC), all facilities infrastructure and equipment (including mechanical, electrical, & plumbing systems), life safety systems, and all GMP utilities (including Reverse Osmosis and Domestic water systems) + Identify and manage all service/maintenance contracts (i.e. preventative and corrective maintenance, calibrations, pest control). This management includes determining guidelines for and negotiating terms and conditions of facility and service contracts, leases, grants, and related financial agreements; evaluate Request for Proposals (RFPs); award and monitor related contracts, leases, and financial agreements for compliance with terms and conditions; ensure that contracts integrate with stated department goals; and resolve contract disputes + Ensure the facility needs of the DPF are met, including 24-hour on-call service, routine facility and equipment inspections, trending controls data, and ensuring maintenance can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner + Utilizing a CMMS, manage the planned maintenance program including planning, scheduling, and completing preventative & corrective maintenance and maintaining an effective spare parts program + Review the operation of buildings, equipment, and systems continuously with the goal of minimizing unplanned downtime, anticipating problems, and solving issues in a timely manner via continuous improvement and use of Root Causes Analysis (RCA) process + Develop SOPs and maintain all operation manuals, facility related drawings and vendor documents + Participate in problem solving and take initiative to make recommendations for utilities systems upgrades, reliability and efficiency improvements, and other improvements to minimize system downtime + Maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures + Ensure city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the facility are always met + Support manufacturing and change management initiatives including, but not limited to, professional maintenance, early equipment management, energy & environment + Manage and develop a small team (1 or 2 maintenance mechanics) + Other duties as assigned **For this role you will need** Minimum Requirements + H.S. diploma or General Education Degree (GED) + 14+ years of experience in a maintenance or facilities role with a H.S. Diploma/GED or + 12+ years of experience in a maintenance or facilities role with an associate degree or + 10+ years of experience in a maintenance or facilities role with a bachelor's degree + Strong organizational and systems implementation skills + GMP and OSHA safety and internal safety procedures + Understanding of GMPs and operation of a bio/pharm manufacturing plant + Solid fundamental computer skills needed in word processing and spreadsheet handling + Knowledge and experience with Facilities Management programs (CMMS) + Must not have any other interaction with pigs outside of the company Preferred Qualifications + Associate degree in facility/maintenance management, engineering, or other related discipline or + Bachelor’s degree in facility/maintenance management, engineering, or other related discipline + 1+ years of facilities/maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment + 3+ years licensed in a standardized trade + 6+ years of experience in maintenance or facilities management in an industrial or manufacturing environment + State Licensed Electrician - Journeyman License + Experience in: root cause analysis/CAPA training, contract negotiations At United Therapeutics, you’ll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
