This position will be based out of Houston, TX. This position is responsible for performing procedures, activities, and duties associated with the startup / commissioning, programming, and service of field equipment, ensuring completion of both company and customer objectives at the field level. The purpose of the Sr. Field controls engineer is to lead quality design, development, installation and be proficient in new equipment installation, commissioning, and performing advanced maintenance with no supervision.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties Review SOW (Statement of Work) created for the project and, as necessary review Turn-in data created by Enerflex Applications group including customer specification. Assist the Internal Kick Off Meeting and generate the SOW for the project. Participate in Customer Kick Off Meeting and HAZOP meeting. Provide Squad Check for project P&IDs considering SOW and Turn-in data. Review project wiring diagrams for Control Panels and/or Junction Boxes to meet project documentation, delivery commitments, customer specification and industry standards. Release project Bill of Material (BOM) and Control Panel or Junction Box to manufacturer and support fabrication questions/comments. Leads and participates in design and development of automation systems. Create internal RATS (Ranges, Alarms and Trip Setpoints) file as a base for the project execution. Support in the development of Cause & Effect and Control Narrative. Develop PLC (PAC) / HMI programs using Enerflex programming standards, structure and proprietary blocks / faceplates. Create Network Address log for customer remote communications. Responsible of PLC (PAC) / HMI programs test, troubleshoots, and provides solutions for technical problems. Perform internal Control Panel Factory Acceptance Test. Perform Factory Acceptance Test in our systems with or without customer, generate and maintain FAT documentation including project punch list. Responsible for generating and accuracy of final project documentation related to Automation. Contributes to project scope and budget development. Provide on-site support for commissioning and start-up. Contribute in Enerflex proprietary tools and software development for Automation solutions. Network and develop relationships with customers to further the Enerflex brand reputation and promise. Model and champion Enerflex core values in ways that center team culture on these values. Abide by and promote the Enerflex HSE policy. Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Instrumentation discipline or equivalent experience. 5 to 10 yrs. experience in design of various control systems with Allen Bradley hardware; other brands is a plus. 5 to 10 yrs. experience in PLC (PAC)/HMI programming on Allen Bradley, RSLogix 5000 or Studio for PAC and FactoryTalk View Studio. Other PLC(PAC)/HMI brands like GE, Schneider Group (Modicon and Telemechanique) and Siemens is a plus. Intellution and Wonderware experience also a plus. Knowledge of various electrical components including MCCs, VFD’s, electrical switchgear and motors. Knowledge in NEC code for hazardous location is required Knowledge in IEC code is a plus. Knowledge in the use of Computer-Aided Engineering Software. Good analytical, engineering problem solving skills. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written. Proficient with Microsoft Office application software. Field commissioning and startup experience. Travel will be required, up to 65-70%. Knowledge in AutoCAD Electrical is a plus. Must also stay current on all updated OEM model specific training Must have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license. Strong mechanical and electrical abilities with knowledge and experience to perform complex service, installation, and maintenance tasks. Must have his/her own tools of the trade. (With exceptions of specialty or OEM specific diagnostic equipment) Ability to identify and stop activities that are unsafe for personnel or the environment when they occur. Physical Requirements Fast‐paced Field environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. Domestic travel is required. May be exposed to confidential information.
