Senior Finance Manager – Kempton Park, South Africa

Role Summary/Purpose:

The role is responsible for the overall finance function for a manufacturing operation in the rail sector. The candidate will be responsible for the overall budgeting/financial forecasting, manufacturing and operational finance, reporting, controllership, and statutory compliance. He/She will serve as the key business partner to the Site Director and his core staff to drive execution, manage cost and working capital management. There will also be a string emphasis on simplification/process improvement across the operation.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead the annual budgeting and monthly + quarterly forecasting/estimates and pacing (orders, sales, cost, margins, CFOA) in partnership with the commercial and operating teams, as well as divisional HQ stakeholdersPartner with the sales director and support the commercial/tendering process … critically evaluate tender economics, ensure completeness/accuracy of inputs and reasonableness of assumptions including local content requirements Partner with the managing director and support the operational team (project management, planning, sourcing, supply chain, warehouse, manufacturing) drive execution and on time customer deliveriesProvide thought leadership and insights around risks and opportunities to the commercial and operating teams to ensure that these are quantified, and appropriate mitigations or actions implemented and trackedLead the financial close and reporting process monthly + quarterly, ensuring the process is completed timely and accurately, including on time reporting in line with the divisional and corporate reporting calendarsSupervise the activities of the site finance team (2) performing various finance cycles (production accounts, inventory accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, account reconciliations, bank/cash, fixed Assets, etc.) to ensure they are performed timeously, complete, and accuratelyManage tight working capital needs for the operation including on time customer collections, managing supplier payments, and intercompanies.Oversight of cash/bank to ensure appropriate processing and approval of transactions, including the monthly payroll for the groupSupport the development and implementation of simplification initiatives across the business with clear cost/benefit insightsPartner with local, regional, and global support functions (HR, Treasury, Statutory, Localization, 3rd parties) to ensure successful and on time completion of deliverables and implementation of various group initiatives.Prepare board of directors’ packs and attend board meetings to communicate the business’s performance, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting, FinanceAt least 10 years of experience in Finance roles (financial planning & analysis, operational/manufacturing finance is critical, controllership/statutory compliance)Experience in the financial aspects of industrial projects/programs such as long-term contract management, accounting, and reportingPresentation and communication skills, fluent in English language (writing, reading, speaking, listening), advanced PowerPoint presentation skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to support data-based decision makingKnowledge and preferably previous experience working with GAAP standardsMust have legal authorization to work in South Africa

Chartered Accountant or other similar/related accreditationsPrevious work experience at Big 4 audit companiesPrevious experience working with Oracle ERP systemsAbility to work in Matrix Organization (divisions, functions, regions)Strong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skills
