ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
Reports to: Finance Director – OPCO Accounting
Number of Direct Reports: 1 - 2
Core relationships: Internal – Finance, operations, tax / External –auditors.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
Consult with appropriate project managers, engineers, and finance representatives across all operating companies to gain a full understanding of capital projects.Provide guidance to non-finance business partners regarding capitalization requirements and accounting impacts under GAAP.Responsible for the segmentation of capital costs to optimize the tax benefit of fixed asset depreciation and ensure the analysis is reflected in the SAP fixed asset subledger system.Evaluate tax law changes and determine how it may impact asset capitalization and depreciation, which includes a stringent review of current year additions.Act as owner of the Property Management SOX process. Assist SOX management with the design of SOX controls and respective test procedures related to property management to ensure that control activities are adequately tested, and any operating effectiveness issues are detected as part of quarterly SOX testing.Review depreciation and spending forecasts for accuracy, reasonableness, and completeness. Must be able to adhere to monthly corporate and parent company forecast deadlines.Interpret and apply IFRS and Group accounting policies as needed.Assess whether there are impairment or other accounting issues, and appropriate depreciable lives for all Company fixed assets.Responsible for the monthly general ledger closing process as it related to property management including depreciation, journal entries, account reconciliation approvals and subledger closing.Coach, support, and train staff on an ongoing basis to ensure a smooth functioning and high performing department.ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
CPA or MBABachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance8+ years of experience in AccountingStrong accounting and business acumenAbility to effectively work in a fast-pace and changing environment.Strong oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to challenge the status quo as necessary.BENEFICIAL
