Purpose

This position is responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, analysis, budget administration, and forecasting to support programmatic and business operations for University Housing and Dining (UHD). Perform various activities as part of the monthly and year-end close-outs. Reviews and audits contract compliance and conducts financial presentations to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Reviews accounts and fund groups for the propriety of entries and approval of such vouchers. Assist in the integration of all UHD financial systems to Workday ERP system. Utilize COGNOS and/or Tableau analytics to create and modify reports and dashboards. Develops and prepares reports, monthly closing entries, financial analysis, and develop financial models to analyze debt issuances, calculate debt service requirements, debt ratios, etc.

Assist in preparing data for feasibility and benchmark studies as needed. Assist in responding to outside consultant's requests for information. Prepare presentations as needed. Performs impact analysis and maintain complex databases to conduct comprehensive financial and technical analysis. Utilize Business Intelligence systems to support and monitor performance and financial benchmarks.

Assist in identifying opportunities for expense management. Research and ensure accuracy of expenses. Calculate and forecast for changes in costs due to reformulation or products and service changes. Assist in reviewing costs and performing cost benefit analysis related to capital expenditure projects. Review of and report on food service operations menu engineering analysis. Maintain procurement, inventory analysis and other supply chain data.

Help facilitate the annual budget development process. Close the feedback loop between actuals and forecasts by performing periodic analysis of actual spend versus forecast and recommend improvements.

Assist in review of current UHD business processes and develop business requirements to ensure optimal efficiency, cost savings and customer focus. Collaborate with the UHD Infosys/Analytics team regarding requirements for execution and development of analytics capability across aligned functional areas. Assist in developing financial services Standard Operating Procedures and Financial Education and Training materials for UHD stakeholders. Provides back up support for the Accounting, Payroll, and HR team and performs other UHD Accounting/Payroll related functions. Other related functions as assigned.

Assist in conducting monthly, quarterly, and multi-year forecasts. Conduct forecasting, trending, and what-if analysis. Assist in working with management teams to develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Financial Report dashboard.

Assist in identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement. Help assess and support internal control processes of retail operations and cash management. Ensure reconciliation/collection of all billed revenue. Develop accounts receivable aging schedules and recommend modification of outstanding accounts receivables. Research and ensure accuracy of revenue recognition.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.

At least 6 years progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting, cost and financial analysis.

Use of personal computer and other standard office machines.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in accounting or finance.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

One or more years’ experience in an accounting and/or finance role in a college or university setting.

Experience working in an accounting and/or finance role at the University of Texas at Austin.

Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills required, including the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Strong analytical and systems process analysis skills.

Results oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

Committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Salary Range

$69,000+ depending on qualifications

Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Hours and days may vary due to business needs.
