Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Assists in the completion of the capital and operating budgets. This may include financial analysis of changes in reimbursement, revenue per unit of service, other pricing changes, or expenses · Prepare key financial analysis: benchmark reporting and studies, product line reporting, financial projections, profitability analysis, payor analysis, business plans, pricing analysis, and cost center reporting. · Assists the Decision Support team in the development and creation of pro-forma and other profit and loss analysis utilizing a variety of data intelligence tools. · Prepares business/market analyses of current and potential service areas, including market share analysis, demographics, payer, utilization, patient origin, and physician need assessments. Researches and compiles information needed for internal and external reports for presentation to executive management, the Board of Directors, and outside consultants. Educate finance staff, management, and executive leadership on various financial topics. Train operational staff on the use of the systems. Serve as a resource to department managers and Mercyhealth executives in the interpretation of financial information. Train and develop other finance staff on the use of various software applications including the decision support system and the cost accounting system. Work directly with financial staff to ensure the accuracy of the financial systems. · Manages organizational survey projects through all phases, including research design, questionnaire development and completion, sample selection, data analysis, and reporting, such as IDPH annual hospital questionnaire, AHA hospital survey, hospital association surveys, and other organizational surveys. · Uses sophisticated planning, analytical, and research tools to ensure provision of a quality product. Develops analyses, databases, and other tools for more efficient management of information. Identifies new analysis and research methodologies, tools, and resources. · Assist the Director Decision Support and CFO with other data collection, ad hoc analysis and duties, as assigned. · Establish and maintain various databases, to ensure the integrity of the data, and be able to interpret the financial data or results. (Knowledge of StrataJazz, Microsoft Access, Crystal reporting, and SQL a plus) · Communicate effectively with leadership on financial results, analysis, or reporting and assist with operational improvements. · Develop and maintain financial models and templates to be distributed system-wide to ensure quality and consistency. · Maintain the cost accounting system used in decision support. This includes working with leadership to establish overhead allocations, RVUs, and reclass/adjustments. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other related field, with 2 years of healthcare experience. Master’s degree preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring). Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement programs, coding, and billing preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. INFORMATION ACCESS Partner may access patient care information needed to perform their job duties. OR Partner may access patient care information, financial data, human resource data and strategic and planning data needed to perform their job duties as directed by the director.
