Senior Financial Analyst
Our GFL team is expanding, and we’re looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join us in Sugar Land, TX. Providing direct support to the Area Controller, US Environmental Services, this role will work closely with the business leadership to help to drive overall performance and profitability. Working at the intersection of Finance, IT and Operations this role will support an effective decision-making process. As an experienced Financial Analyst, you enjoy working in a fast paced, high-growth environment.

Career Path Potential

A “Day in the Life" of a Senior Financial Analyst

Provide and assist in implementing creative solutions that fills the gaps in the out-of-the-box reporting capabilitiesIdentify trends, facilitate benchmarking and report on the outliersTrack and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with budget / forecastsConsolidate and analyze financial data (budget, forecast, actual)Support with preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements and presentationsSupport preparation of budgets and forecasts of monthly, quarterly and yearlyFinalize financial reporting deliverables for month and quarter endProvide variance analysis on a monthly / quarterly basis in accordance with head office deadlinesReview operational statistics and report KPls in accordance with pre-set timelinesProvide financial and operational analysis and value-added decision support to businessProvide financial expertise in the development of business cases to support new initiatives and/or enhancements to current processes in addition to providing post implementation analysis of new businessProvide ad hoc financial planning and analysis; develop new reports, run models, and ongoing evaluation of projectsObserve and document data management processes. Plan process improvements and translate these into system change requirements.Maintain prototype reports during initial business review and support finalization of requirements for permanent reportsReview post implementation analysis on new business initiativesMaintain highest integrity with regard to the Company's policies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a similar discipline2-4 years of relevant experience in business analysis and financial planningStrong attention to detail, and ability to flow through financial transactionsAble to support tight schedules and provide timely analysisAnalytical mindset including the ability to define solutions to abstract problems, test solutions, and apply critical thinkingOpen-minded and growth orientedMust possess a desire to effect change and make a difference in the organizationAble to navigate through and decipher large multi-source datasets, model out the unknown and incorporate the results in budgeting and forecastingUnderstanding of statistics and data aggregation techniquesHandle ambiguity and excel in a dynamic and rapidly changing environmentExcellent computer literacy covering ERP, operational and Microsoft office suite, with a black (our favourite colour elsewhere is green) belt proficiency in Excel and Power BISystem savvy - previous knowledge of Great Plains and Cognos is good but it is the ability to learn and adapt to the new systems that is really an assetOffice environment, some occasional travel may be required from time to time at various company locationsSome periodic overtime is expected during busy seasons
