Senior Financial Analyst
Reporting to the Director, Securities & Mortgage Reporting, this position will be mainly accountable for the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial, management and reports for investments in Securities and Commercial Mortgages. The individual will work closely with Securities Ops, Private Market Ops, Business units, and ALM team in the company to help deliver the accounting and reporting functions in a timely and accurate manner. **Wealth & Asset Management (WAM) and General Accounts (GA) Overview** Manulife's Global WAM & GA Division manages the Company’s General Account on-balance sheet assets and through Manulife Investment Management, manages assets for institutional clients and investment funds in key markets around the world. Manulife Investment Management also provides investment management services to affiliates’ retail clients through product offerings of Manulife and John Hancock. The Division manages a broad range of investments including public and private bonds, public and private equities, mortgages, real estate, oil and gas, infrastructure, timberland, farmland and asset allocation strategies. The Division has physical presence in key international financial centers, including Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia and South East Asia. **Position Responsibilities:** + Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end investment/mortgage accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and conducting variance analysis. + Manage the consolidation and elimination of financial information in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards. + Maintain and update reconciliation working papers for general ledger accounts, ensuring timely clearance of items as per guidelines. + Collaborate with Controllers,ALM, actuary, and Operations to deliver required financial information and meet ad-hoc requests. + Provide support for internal and external audits by gathering and collecting financial information. + Identify opportunities to enhance investment project deliveries and assist directors and team members with various projects and analyses. **Required Qualifications:** + University degree is required in accounting or a related discipline + Strong competencies in some of the following: accounting standards, finance, audit, management, and design, implementation, and presentation of financial and business focused reporting. + Excellent communication including strong written and verbal communication with team members and ability to communicate effective in business terminology with different business units + Highly organized with an exceptional attention to detail. + Effective time management skills; working well under pressure to meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities; ability to prioritize workload; ability to work and analyze at a high level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Strong knowledge of IFRS/USGAAP/NAIC in relation to investment accounting and reporting would be an asset **_When you join our team:_** + _We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want._ + _We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words._ + _As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see._ \#LI-Hybrid **About Manulife and John Hancock** Manulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider, helping people make their decisions easier and lives better.
