Position Summary: 

The Senior Analyst, FP&A will join the Brookfield Credit Group Finance team and will report into the Director, Finance (FP&A). The Senior Analyst will primarily be responsible for supporting Brookfield’s Credit business with planning and forecasting processes, including trend analysis and tracking performance against our financial targets. The successful candidate will prepare clear and thoughtful analyses in support of a large variety of deliverables and presentations. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including the broader finance and operations teams, portfolio company management and the finance teams of BAM and BN.  

 

Responsibilities: 

 Support in the preparation of regular financial forecasting/re-forecasting and related analytics 

Coordinate the review of quarterly earnings forecast submissions from operating companies, including overseeing the final high-level output provided to senior management and other users 

Identify unusual or unexpected variances for follow-up explanations 

Leverage knowledge of each operating company’s business plan to identify inconsistencies or changes between the updated forecasts and the business plan 

Utilize an understanding of the underlying business as well as macroeconomic factors to assess any related impact on forecasted results 

When actual results are submitted and reported, compare to business plan and forecasts, identify variances and follow-up with appropriate contacts to understand and/or assess the need for updates to be made 

Clearly summarize variances to prior periods, the business plan and forecasts in writing and verbally to more senior members of the team 

Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting of key operating metrics for management reporting and public company external documents, including Management’s Discussion and Analysis, and Supplemental information 

Assist in preparing quarterly and year end Asset Management reports focusing on key metrics including asset under management, fee bearing capital, fee revenues and fee-related earnings 

Liaise with relevant contacts to understand the underlying reasons for changes in these metrics 

Prepare clear and concise report summaries, including analyses and reconciliations to prior periods, identifying key drivers of change 

On an annual basis, work with other finance, investments and M&A team members to develop and consolidate a 5-year business plan 

Attend operating company business plan presentation meetings 

Work with contacts at the relevant operating companies to understand the key strategies within the business plans as well as changes to the plans from the prior year, key priorities for the underlying businesses and the largest risks to successful execution of the plans 

Distill the detailed consolidated business plan into presentations for senior management, clearly and concisely explaining the key drivers of the plan 

Assist with the extrapolation of the 5-year business plan into a 10-year plan for senior management and incorporated into Brookfield investor day presentations 

Develop engaging PowerPoint decks and presentations to effectively communicate financial data and insights to senior team members 

Prepare files and tables for ad-hoc analyses that are clear and easy to understand 

Build relationships with frequent contacts across the organization and within our operating companies to assist the team with obtaining accurate, timely and useful information 

Assist in the implementation and utilization of the FP&A modules within OneStream to drive management reporting, forecasting and analysis 

Identify opportunities for process improvements to drive efficiency, increase productivity and support future business growth 

 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

Degree in finance, accounting or related business discipline 

A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA)  

Minimum three to five (3-5) years of work experience in Finance (accounting, reporting, corporate finance)  

Expert with MS Office (MS Excel, PowerPoint) 

Experience with OneStream is a plus 

Judgement, critical thinking and strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness, with the ability to assess complex situations and make effective recommendations 

Ability to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic and fast-paced environment 

Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently and willingness to own and improve processes  

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of working with individuals across various levels and backgrounds 

Organizational skills to effectively manage priorities, multi-task where necessary, work well under pressure and meet timelines and the ability to deal professionally with internal and external stakeholders
