Position Overview: Senior Financial Analyst

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in driving the financial success of the Minnesota Star Tribune by providing advanced financial analysis, reporting, and strategic insights. This position involves partnering with cross-functional teams, preparing forecasts, conducting detailed financial modeling, and supporting decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, deep financial acumen, and the ability to communicate complex financial data effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and manage financial plans: Lead the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Analyze financial performance: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and provide actionable insights to improve profitability and efficiency. Calculate and review incentive plans: Develop and maintain models to calculate employee and sales incentive payouts accurately, ensuring alignment with company policies and performance metrics. Deliver detailed financial reports: Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for senior management to support decision-making. Support strategic initiatives: Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to assess the impact of new business initiatives or changes in market conditions. Enhance processes and tools: Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, tools, and reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA/CFA preferred). 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and scenario planning. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and develop innovative solutions to achieve business goals.

Salary/Wage Range

$80,000 - $100,000 / year

Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
