Senior Financial Analyst

Job Responsibilities:

Identify project-specific risks and ensure projects meet Southern Company’s risk/return criteria. Provide modeling support for project analysis and ensure tax and accounting attributes are modeled correctly. Maintain financial calculation portion of valuation model and update functionality as needed. Compile executive Earnings Call package and ensure clear communication of earnings drivers. Complete annual update process for investment criteria, including hurdle rates for multiple technologies. Communicate investment criteria and financial tenets held by SCS Finance. Act as a liaison between treasury, capital markets, legal, accounting, and tax to ensure accurate analysis.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline (strongly preferred).

Experience:

3+ years with electric utility, preferably in generation planning, system planning, wholesale product structuring, power pool operations, finance, risk analysis, or generation asset valuations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Understanding of utility accounting and finance. Knowledge of financial analysis and valuation techniques. Excellent analytical skills. Familiarity with energy markets and risk management concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills.
