Position Summary:
The Sr. Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager is a key leader on the Finance team at Trupanion. This individual will lead the financial reporting and technical accounting team and will have a high level of visibility throughout the organization and with the executive leadership team. We are seeking an individual with strong technical accounting, reporting, and leadership skills who can contribute to our team both as a mentor to our other finance and accounting team members and as a subject matter expert on financial reporting and technical accounting.
This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.
What you will do:
Ownership of quarterly, annual and periodic SEC filings including 10-Q’s and 10-K’s. Work closely with the legal department on the annual Proxy Statement and periodic 8-K filings.Research technical accounting issues, including new accounting guidance, and provide guidance and documentation on how this will impact Trupanion’s financial reporting and operations.Manage areas of accounting which are highly technical in nature, including accounting for share-based compensation, statement of cash flows, and accounting for one-time and unusual transactions.Periodically present hot topics and technical analysis to senior leadership and the Audit Committee.Ensure corporate disclosure controls are appropriately designed and operating.Mentor and direct a team of talented financial reporting individuals to ensure team goals are met and individual team members are fulfilling their career goals.Experience you have:
7+ years of relevant experience including 2+ years leading a team. Public accounting experience required (Big 4 highly preferred). Experience with SEC reporting either as a preparer or an external auditor requiredExperience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requiredCPA license strongly preferred, but not requiredWhat you’ll bring:
Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and good analytical skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with experience documenting technical accounting assessmentsEnergetic and highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail a mustStrong analytical abilities, including the ability to troubleshoot problems and recognize areas for process improvementsCompensation:
The pay range for this position is $135,000 -$150,000, on a full-time schedule.Along with base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members.
