Senior Fire Protection Coordinator

The Fire Protection Coordinator (FPC) reports to the Safety & Health (S&H) Fire Protection Manager (FPM) through the Lead FPC and will assist in the development and implementation of S&H Fire Protection Program requirements relating to the construction, startup, commissioning, maintenance, and operations activities of the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant (WTP).
**This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC**
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS**
+ Perform and record monthly facility and area fire protection inspections in accordance with the inspection procedures, to include verifications of Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs) for the implementation of the FPP.
+ Perform facility audits in accordance with Fire Protection Facility Assessment Plan.
+ Perform oversight and verifications of hot work activities in accordance with Hot Work procedure.
+ Perform NFPA 72 oversight of the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire alarm and signaling systems.
+ Perform oversight of NFPA 25 ITM of Fire Service Water (FSW) and Fire Protection Water (FPW) systems.
+ Provide periodic reviews of Hanford Fire Department (HFD) Pre-Incident Plans (PIPs).
+ Coordinate with HFD to maintain the PIPs and attend/provide familiarization tours of the WTP site.
+ Support the implementation of FPP documents and tools.
+ Maintain a working understanding of FPP requirements and related implementing documents for ITM and Plant Management activities.
+ Assess the effectiveness of fire safety implementation and compliance, identifying and reporting fire protection program deficiencies to the Fire Protection Manager.
+ Develop understanding of assigned facility/facilities active and passive fire protection features.
+ Assist in the identification of fire protection attributes in the work planning process to ensure work is accomplished in accordance with FPP requirements.
+ Recommend and develop compensatory actions for Fire Protection System (FPS) and Life Safety System (LSS) impairments, deficiencies, and condition report (CR) corrective actions (CAs).
+ Support the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Education/Experience:**
Bachelor’s degree in a Fire Protection field of study such as Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Fire Safety, or other fire protection related degrees; and 10 years’ of professional fire protection experience.
In lieu of a degree, 14 or more years of professional fire protection experience will be considered a substitute.
**Other relevant experience:**
Should have a documented history of evaluating facilities and areas for Fire Protection, Fire Safety, and Life Safety hazards.
Experience performing Fire- & Life-Safety inspections and audits, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of required personal protective equipment.
Should have proven experience in overseeing site Inspection, Test, and Maintenance (ITM) activities. Ability to load, transport, and unload tools and/or supplies specific to a fire protection or life safety activities.
Must be able to show proficiency in the operation of MS Office suite applications to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access, and non-MS applications such as Adobe products.
**Preferred:**
Experience implementing DOE fire protection requirements (DOE O 420.1B or 1C). Said experience should include a demonstrated ability to provide oversight and reporting of Fire Protection Program compliance.
Nuclear experience functioning within a fire safety program.
Department of Defense Chemical Demilitarization Program experience will also be considered.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
**This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.**
**Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship**
**Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site** .
**COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $115,543.99 - $182,530.01 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
